Abstract

Social network sites (SNSs) like Facebook.com, are the dominant technology-mediated leisure activity among teenagers in different countries, prompting researchers to explore their suitability as learning tools, largely in formal higher education settings, and with mixed results. In contrast, this paper examines whether an open-source social networking application implemented outside of the school context engaged young people (ages 16–25) in debating socio-scientific issues. A multi-dimensional approach to analyzing argumentative knowledge construction in a designed Facebook.com application yielded insights about the presence and nature of young people’s socio-scientific issue argumentation along four process dimensions (participation, argumentative, epistemic, social co-construction). We discuss the implications of these findings for computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) theory and the design of similar applications that attempt to supplement formal learning or bridge formal-informal learning settings.

In a nutshell, ADDIE is an acronym where every letter corresponds to one of the model’s main phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The ADDIE methodology was developed in Florida State University’s Center for Educational Technology back in the seventies. Initially, the model was meant to be used in the US armed forces, a fact to which it owes its streamlined processes and clear delineation of phases. Despite being nearly forty years old, the methodology has not fallen out of use; indeed, it has remained the leading eLearning methodology to this day.

Procedimiento de tutoría on-line para la dirección de proyectos de investigación: gestión, organización y elementos clave

La tutoría de proyectos de investigación es un elemento crucial para la enseñanza, se trata de una acción planificada que se basa en la relación entre un tutor y un alumno. En este artículo se presentan los resultados de una investigación de diseño y desarrollo cuyo principal objetivo es la creación de un sistema de organización para la tutoría de proyectos de investigación on-line. Dicho sistema pretende facilitar la tarea de la tutoría y supervisión con investigadores en formación, proporcionando orientaciones para la gestión e instrumentos para su práctica. Los principales resultados conclusiones que surgen de la investigación derivan de considerar la necesidad de ofrecer una solución al problema de supervisar proyectos de investigación a distancia y se ha visto concretado en la organización y secuenciación a través de un modelo sobre las variables que influyen en el proceso de tutorización de proyectos de investigación.

Some great tips in this article. I particularly liked 

Set up a FAQ page and refer demanding students to that, as a default starting point. Make it a one-stop information shop for common queries.but I do find you have to constantly refer students to it.
