RETROALIMENTACIÓN EN EDUCACIÓN EN LÍNEA: UNA ESTRATEGIA PARA LA CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL CONOCIMIENTO

La sociedad ha pasado por diferentes etapas en el área de la educación a lo largo de la historia, en cada una de ellas se han implementado diversas estrategias, modelos, metodologías, etc, que han cubierto requerimientos en contextos vigentes. Hace solo algunos años se integra a esta evolución la modalidad en línea, que se soporta en las tecnologías y se caracteriza básicamente por romper barreras de tiempo y espacio durante procesos de formación académica. Esta innovadora forma de enseñar y aprender conlleva a reflexionar sobre el proceso de evaluación: ¿deberá requerirse también una nueva forma de evaluar? ¿es la retroalimentación importante en el proceso de evaluación? ¿cómo podría definirse el concepto de “retroalimentación“? ¿una retroalimentación efectiva, eficaz, adecuada y sistemática generará conocimiento en línea? A través de este artículo se describirá el proceso de retroalimentación como detonante para la construcción del conocimiento.

FUNDAMENTOS DEL PROCESO EDUCATIVO A DISTANCIA: ENSEÑANZA, APRENDIZAJE Y EVALUACIÓN

A la hora de abordar los fundamentos de la educación debemos dar respuesta a tres cuestiones claves: ¿quién aprende? ¿cómo aprende? y ¿qué, cuándo y cómo evaluar? La educación a distancia está dirigida a un sector de población amplio y heterogéneo, aunque podemos precisar que los adultos son el sector mayoritario que acude a las aulas “virtuales”. La autoformación constituye la base de la enseñanza a distancia adecuándose al marco de los principios constructivistas que rigen la educación actual, pues supone que la iniciativa y gestión del proceso de aprendizaje está en manos del propio sujeto que aprende, sin excluir por ello la ayuda externa del profesor-tutor. La evaluación a distancia ya no es la “asignatura pendiente” de la modalidad educativa no presencial, al posibilitar en los entornos virtuales las evaluaciones en línea, síncronas y la autoría de las mismas.

More recent researchers have been quick to highlight that in a world of rapid technological change, today’s students are demonstrating serious signs of disengagement. As Marc Prensky highlights in ‘Engage Me or Enrage Me – What Today’s Learners Demand’ (Prensky, 2005,p.2):


“Rather than being empowered to choose what they want … and to see what interests them … and to create their own personalized identity – as they are in the rest of their lives – in school, they must eat what they are served. And what they are being served is, for the most part, stale, bland, and almost entirely stuff from the past. Yesterday’s education for tomorrow’s kids.”


The challenge is patently clear – schools have to embrace the ‘megachange’ required and construct new paradigms for learning in the twenty first century world. Mavers made the comment that:


“As digital technologies proliferate and become established in the everyday world of home, work and community, schools are inhabited by young people who are experienced users of a range of media and whose use is characterized by agency and adaptability.” (MAvErS, 2007, P.52) 3The Place of Virtual, Pedagogic and Physical Space in the 21st Century Classroom — Stephen Harris Page 5 No longer is the change a topic for conversation, it is an imperative.


Guski talked about the importance of spatial perception in school architecture, highlighting that ‘we don’t only see an object, we also feel, smell, taste and hear it’. (Guski, 2000, p.2) and Walden picks up that same spatial theme stating that:


“A space is much more than four walls, floor and ceiling. The spatial conditions that should be considered for human well-being include color scheme, lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation, acoustics, smells and furnishings. All these aspects can significantly influence the sense of well-being and readiness to learn and therefore learning performance.” (WALDEN, 2009, P.78)

There is a very great temptation to keeping things away from the learner, ‘until they are ready for it’.  As online teachers it is our job to break the learning up into units that the learner can address in their own time and so we naturally analyse the learning in terms of its difficulty, hoping to lead the learner along the path of increasing knowledge.

La memoria a corto plazo opera sólo por un tiempo limitado y con una cantidad de elementos también muy limitada. Llega un momento en que el volumen de información que recibe el cerebro, en forma de textos, imágenes, vídeos, links, banners, etc, es tal que dicha memoria de trabajo se satura.Esta abundancia en los textos digitales o en la información que los alumnos encuentran por internet, les obliga a trabajar siempre en un nivel superficial y les impide interiorizar el aprendizaje, con diversas consecuencias
