A Research Reader in Universal Design for Learning

A Research Reader in Universal Design for Learning | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

This book considers the major research areas that underlie UDL and call out for further exploration in the years ahead. Each of the book’s six chapters includes a groundbreaking article that is centrally related to the larger UDL project, along with reflections on that article by contemporary researchers.

9 Tools to Create E-magazines and Newspapers for Your Class

9 Tools to Create E-magazines and Newspapers for Your Class | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

I am pretty sure as you introduce the idea to your students everyone will want to have a say in their next e-magazine. There is nothing much more rewarding to students then to have a proof of their hard work recognized in a publication of some sort.

Most of the tools cited here are easy to use and have user friendly interface and they will let you create your own e-magazine or newspaper in few simple steps. Yet I would recommend your discretion as you use them with your students.

To cut to the quick, Schank thinks Higher Education is a con. You pay through the nose for not very much more than a three or four year vacation and a good social life. The courses are poor and the system designed to select researchers.

#No!

20 Things To Know About How Big Data Is Changing Schools

20 Things To Know About How Big Data Is Changing Schools | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

Simply put, technology exists in some for or another across education. With that technology comes a push for understanding. That understanding has taken the form of ‘big data‘ entering the classroom. By ‘big data’ I mean high-tech software and analyzation of all the data being created by technology in education.

In other words, we’re finally trying to all figure out the best way to use technology in education. From measuring test scores to recommending courses, there’s a big push to leverage data. This should come as no surprise as the rapid growth of MOOCs, online colleges, and digital learning have gotten a lot of attention.

This infographic from Online Degrees sheds some light on projects currently underway at colleges, the pros and cons of ‘big data’ and a whole lot more. Have you started to use more data in your classroom? Would you take a course recommended by data or by a friend? A tough decision for sure. Looking forward to hearing your answers!

Organizing your personal research library and compiling bibliographies

Organizing your personal research library and compiling bibliographies | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

A key aspect of scholarship is how you create a personal research library, find and access your sources when needed, and cite them accurately and comprehensively. Patrick Dunleavy explains how the (relatively new) software Mendeley has transformed his previous time-consuming practice in just a few days, and solved numerous other problems of accessing literature and sources wherever he is. Mendeley can offer all academics and PhDs massive productivity gains.
