A decade ago I remember wondering when online education would reach an inflection point and enter into the mainstream consciousness of our society - it looks like MOOCs are doing just that for good or for bad.

abiertaUGR (MOOC): Identidades Digitales.- | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

Student Persistence in Online Courses: Understanding the Key Factors | Faculty Focus

Student Persistence in Online Courses: Understanding the Key Factors | Faculty Focus | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it
Who should be taking online courses? Are online courses equally appropriate for all students? Can any content be taught in an online format or do some kinds of material lend themselves to mastery in an electronic environment?

Her review is based on 20 studies published since 1999. She found that researchers used a wide range of definitions for persistence. She opted for this straightforward description: persistence is “the ability to complete an online course despite obstacles or adverse circumstances.” (p. 30) The opposite of persistence is attrition, which she defined as “withdrawal from an online course.” (p. 30) Based on her review, she identified the following factors as being related to student persistence in online courses.

Free Technology for Teachers: A Short Guide to Mobile Blogging Apps for Students and Teachers | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

"One of the blogging activities that I often suggest in my workshops is having students record and share on-the-spot observations during field trips. To do this your students should have a mobile blogging application on their iOS and Android devices. If your students don't have iOS or Android devices if they have a mobile device that has a web browser or email client they can post via email to Blogger. Here's a short run-down of mobile blogging options on the blog platforms that I usually recommend to teachers."

‘Designing eLearning for iPads’ – Webinar Recording and Q&A

‘Designing eLearning for iPads’ – Webinar Recording and Q&A | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

"Early this month we ran two webinars on “Designing eLearning for iPads (tablet)”.A big thank you to all of you who were able to join us! We hope you enjoyed it and found it useful.

The questions came thick and fast during the webinars, and while we managed to answer most of them, we ran out of time (and space) to answer all, as much as we would have liked to. So we have compiled all your questions and our answers for you right here. And if you still have some more, mail us  (at info@upsidelearning.com) or post them into the comment box at the end of this post.

If you couldn’t make it to either of our webinars – here’s the link to the full recording of one them. Do let us know what you think."
