Technology Tidbits: Thoughts of a Cyber Hero: ChemDraw | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

ChemDraw is fantastic iPad app for Chemistry teachers.  This is an app that can be used by HS/College students and is ideal way for them to create/draw molecules and then share them easily w/ others.  Also, this is a nice app for educators to use to help engage their students and help w/ them studying for tests.  Best of all this is a very user friendly app that has users creating drawing of molecules and reactions by simply touching and dragging their finger across the iPad screen!!!!

Humility – or how important do you take yourself? | Wisdom for Future Leaders

Humility – or how important do you take yourself? | Wisdom for Future Leaders | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

Since social media we have the possibility to present us and our talent so easily. We are able to show the whole world who we are and what talent is dormant in us. Presenting us feels great and makes happy and proud – thus we invest much time in that presentation. Feelings of “I am important” are the logical consequence. Our mind focuses fully on our own story.

But no one and nothing in the world can be really so important that we forget everything around us.

Only when we see us with humble eyes, are we able to enjoy our life. Then we will detect the beauty of life and will perceive our existence with gratitude, and not with pride. When we learn to say more often “We” instead of “I” and respect other people’s stories as much as our own, we have made a great step towards a new awareness.

Humility and humus share a common root.

John Michel's curator insight, July 8, 2013 11:34 PM

Dropping our self-importance and replacing it through humility leads to inner silence. We are able to see the world with clear eyes. And we see ourselves more clearly as we are. We no longer compare to others and we see others as equal. Humble people don’t see the own success as most important. They help others to become successful, too.

Rethinking Education: Why Our Education System Is Ripe For Disruption

Rethinking Education: Why Our Education System Is Ripe For Disruption | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it
Our education system is not broken, it has just become obsolete When I think of all the tremendous, seemingly impossible feats made possible by entrepreneurs, I am amazed that more has not been done to reinvent our education system.

Our collective belief is that our education system is broken so we spend tremendous energy in trying to fix it. We conveniently place the blame on problems that stem from budget cuts, teacher layoffs, inadequate technology in our schools and our education policies.

We need to recognize the fact that our education system is NOT BROKEN but has simply become OBSOLETE. It no longer meets the needs of the present and future generation.

How to Open Zip Files & Extract Archives on the iPhone & iPad

How to Open Zip Files & Extract Archives on the iPhone & iPad | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

"If you’ve ever run into a .zip file on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad you will probably have discovered it’s a bit of a dead-end initially, because by default there isn’t much you can do with zips or any other archive format. That doesn’t mean you can’t open ZIP files though, and in fact these archives can be viewed, unzipped, and opened in iOS with relative ease, but you will need to download a free third party app before you’ll have the function included on your device. This will allow you view all of the contents of any zip file quickly, and also decompress the entire archive, or just extract a single file from a larger archive, providing quick access to the zip contents which can be saved locally or opened in another application of choice."
