Learning Analytics: Readiness and Rewards | Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology

This paper introduces the relatively new field of learning analytics, first by considering the relevant meanings of both “learning” and “analytics,” and then by looking at two main levels at which learning analytics can be or has been implemented in educational organizations. Although turnkey systems or modules are not yet available for review, specific technologies for analyzing online student activities have been implemented and piloted. As a result, this paper recommends an incremental approach to institutional preparedness.

Guía para la formación en centros sobre las competencias básicas y aplicación digital | Blog de CNIIE

El Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte (MECD), a través del Centro Nacional de Innovación e Investigación Educativa (CNIIE), presenta a la comunidad educativa, esta obra, fruto del esfuerzo y el trabajo cooperativo de diversas administraciones, instituciones y centros educativos durante los últimos años. En el CNIIE, unidad de la Dirección General de Evaluación y Cooperación Territorial, se vienen desarrollando desde 2012 una serie de Proyectos relacionados con los temas prioritarios que en este momento preocupan en el mundo educativo. El Proyecto 1: “Desarrollo de las Competencias Básicas” tiene como objetivo general el de contribuir al diseño de un modelo educativo de éxito que favorezca el desarrollo de las competencias desde una nueva propuesta metodológica. La obra que ahora se publica recoge el trabajo desarrollado desde este Proyecto 1 en dos de sus líneas de actuación: la integración curricular de las competencias básicas y la evaluación de las competencias.   El interés de este Ministerio por las competencias básicas se remonta al año 2010, cuando, recogiendo la reflexión europea en torno a las competencias clave y teniendo en cuenta la incorporación de este nuevo elemento curricular en la LOE (2006), se incluyó este tema entre los Programas de Cooperación Territorial.   En el marco del Programa de Cooperación Territorial nº 2: “Consolidación de las Competencias Básicas como elemento esencial del currículum”, que contó con la participación, junto al MEC, de las Consejerías y Departamentos de Educación de quince Comunidades Autónomas y las Direcciones Provinciales de Ceuta y Melilla, se incluyó como una de sus líneas de acción la “Integración curricular de las competencias básicas”, que tomó el nombre de Proyecto COMBAS durante la primera fase (curso 2010 – 2011).   Durante el curso 2012 – 2013 se desarrolla la segunda fase, centrada fundamentalmente en la elaboración de unidades didácticas integradas (UDIS) y en la evaluación de las competencias. Actualmente, el proyecto se encuentra en la última fase de conclusión y cierre que se desarrollará en el curso 2013-2014, donde se trabajará principalmente la evaluación de las competencias básicas.   La obra que ahora se publica, fruto de todos estos años de investigación en la práctica, se presenta en formato electrónico y consta de varios  documentos interrelacionados:   1. La Guía propiamente dicha, con una parte inicial de conceptualización teórica (capítulos 1 y 2) y una segunda parte en la que desarrolla toda la secuencia de formación (capítulos 3 y 4), compuesta por una actividad previa y 16 actividades más, distribuidas en tres modalidades: inicial, avanzada y de profundización.   2. Los materiales complementarios que amplían las informaciones que a lo largo de toda esta secuencia se propone al profesorado. Su contenido se distribuye en cinco carpetas:
