Linear Technology - LTspice Demo Circuits | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

LTspice Demo Circuits

LTspice IV is a powerful, fast and free simulation tool, schematic capture and waveform viewer with enhancements and models for improving the simulation of switching regulators.

LTspice provides macro models for most of Linear Technology’s switch-mode DC/DC converters, op amps, comparators, linear regulators as well as a library of devices for general analog circuit simulation including discretes. Selected Linear Technology devices also have demonstration circuit available for free download. These demo circuits are designed to ensure proper performance and have been reviewed by Linear Technology’s factory applications group. Follow the instructions below to run the demo circuits in LTspice.

Step 1. If you do not already have a copy of LTspice, click here to download and install LTspice.

Step 2. Once LTspice is installed,  click on the link(s) below to launch the simulation.  LTspice should open automatically.

Step 3. If LTspice does not automatically open after clicking the above link, you can instead run the simulation by right clicking on the link and selecting “Save Target As”. After saving the file to your computer, start LTspice and open the demonstartion circuit by selecting "Open" from the "File" menu.Demo Circuit

Thanks to the Internet, Education is Finally Becoming Personal | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it
Having roiled the music recording and newspaper industries, the Internet is now churning through universities and colleges.

Much media attention has been paid to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), where universities post course material online to be freely consumed by tens or even hundreds of thousands of citizens.

Making quality educational material available at no cost will obviously play a significant role in tomorrow's education system. But using digital tools to personalize the education process offers the biggest return on our scarce education dollars.

Teachers Guide to The 21st Century Learning Model : Connected Learning | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

Why connected learning

Connected learning is a necessity in this digital age. More and more of our students learning, attention, and access to information is taking place outside of classrooms and through online networks and exchanges. Connected learning, however, can help them cultivate the skills necessary for fulfilling adult lives and careers and that formal instruction alone could not afford.

Neelie Kroes blog - Protecting kids online: the industry setting new benchmarks for Safer Internet Day 2013 - European Commission

Neelie Kroes blog - Protecting kids online: the industry setting new benchmarks for Safer Internet Day 2013 - European Commission | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it
European Commission

There are many different people who need to help build a better internet for kids. The private sector, in particular, can do a lot: after all, there the ones who often create and run websites, software, networks and devices. Showing that they’re “thinking safety” wouldn’t just be good for kids – it would be good for their bottom line: many children and parents do worry about this subject, and it’s time they saw the private sector as part of the solution, not part of the problem.

So I’m delighted that our “Internet coalition” of 31 leading companies, which we set up just over a year ago, has now reported: setting a new online industry benchmark for child protection. And look at how much progress has been committed after one year of collective work across sectors!

- Tools to report online abuse or bullying are now becoming universal.

- More and more of the devices you see for sale (from computers and mobiles, to games consoles and connected TV sets) will have parental control options.

- Age ratings, a long-standing and well-known feature for movies and video games, are starting to appear for apps and online content too – and the coalition will be working further on aligning systems to help this.

I will follow closely and make sure these leading companies deliver on their commitment in 2013 and beyond. And I would like to see the whole industry moving in the direction of child safety by default.

Observations on the Evolution of Cyber Tactics in 2013

Observations on the Evolution of Cyber Tactics in 2013 | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it
Tom Kellermann discusses the changes we can expect to see in 2013

The world has reached a point of inflection in cybercrime. As cyberspace abounds with cyber privateers, and many nations of the world become havens for these modern-day pirates, it appears that 2013 is the year of hacking for criminal gain.

In our recently released predictions for 2013, our CTO Raimund Genes illustrated his strategic vision per the future of cybercrime. The predictions highlight improvements in threats we will encounter in 2013, more specifically on the attack vectors used by cybercriminals. Raimund predicts that attackers will shift their strategy from developing sophisticated malware to focusing on the means to infiltrate networks and evade detection.

How Technology is Changing the Way Children Think and Focus | Psychology Today

How Technology is Changing the Way Children Think and Focus | Psychology Today | Aprendiendo a Distancia | Scoop.it

 By Jim Taylor, Ph. D.

"There is...a growing body of research that technology can be both beneficial and harmful to different ways in which children think. Moreover, this influence isn’t just affecting children on the surface of their thinking. Rather, because their brains are still developing and malleable, frequent exposure by so-called digital natives to technology is actually wiring the brain in ways very different than in previous generations. What is clear is that, as with advances throughout history, the technology that is available determines how our brains develops. For example, as the technology writer Nicholas Carr has observed, the emergence of reading encouraged our brains to be focused and imaginative. In contrast, the rise of the Internet is strengthening our ability to scan information rapidly and efficiently.

"The effects of technology on children are complicated, with both benefits and costs. Whether technology helps or hurts in the development of your children’s thinking depends on what specific technology is used and how and what frequency it is used. At least early in their lives, the power to dictate your children’s relationship with technology and, as a result, its influence on them, from synaptic activity to conscious thought.

"Over the next several weeks, I’m going to focus on the areas in which the latest thinking and research has shown technology to have the greatest influence on how children think: attention, information overload, decision making, and memory/learning. Importantly, all of these areas are ones in which you can have a counteracting influence on how technology affects your children."

I am pretty sure as you introduce the idea to your students everyone will want to have a say in their next e-magazine. There is nothing much more rewarding to students then to have a proof of their hard work recognized in a publication of some sort.

Most of the tools cited here are easy to use and have user friendly interface and they will let you create your own e-magazine or newspaper in few simple steps. Yet I would recommend your discretion as you use them with your students.
