In this video, Dirk Helbing introduces a number of concepts such as the Planetary Nervous System, Global Participatory Platform, Interactive Virtual Worlds, User-Controlled Information Filters and Reputation Systems, and the Digital Data Purse. He also discusses ideas such as the Social Mirror, Intercultural Adapter, the Social Protector and Social Money as tools to create a better world. These can help us to avoid systemic instabilities, market failures, tragedies of the commons, and exploitation, and to create the framework for a Participatory Market Society, where everyone can be better off.

Hace unos días que en la web de Flipped Classroom se publicó una lista con un excelente colección de vídeos (fuente original: http://www.edudemic.com/best-video-sites-for-teachers), a la que hemos añadido otros propios de nuestra web, para generar una colección de 110 sitios con contenidos didácticos, herramientas o tutoriales de video educativo.
Hace tiempo que quería ofrecer esta información, así que de acuerdo con Raúl Santiago, he decidido ponerla aquí también.
Estoy convencido de que no sacamos el partido que podríamos al vídeo educativo, cuando es una herramienta muy poderosa que permite utilizar el tiempo y la motivación de los estudiantes de manera muy flexible. ¿Qué razón hay hoy en día para no ampliar o diversificar los contenidos a los alumnos que por su capacidad o características precisan? ¿Qué motivo se puede tener para no ofrecer diversas actividades en el mismo espacio de la clase a grupos o a alumnos individuales? ¿Por qué tenemos que limitar a los niños su afán de saber restringiendo el currículo? Abramos las puertas al conocimiento, fomentemos la curiosidad intelectual. Naturalmente no estoy proponiendo que pongas en manos de tus hijos, o de tus alumnos, esta lista de 110 plataformas, sino que le ayudes a encontrar lo que busca y valores prudentemente su edad, oportunidad del tema, adecuación a su nivel de comprensión, etc. Y como dice el slogan de NACE, ¿porqué solo les permitimos caminar, cuando pueden volar?

Tras la publicación del libro Geography for Life: National Geography Standards, (Heffron & Downs, 2012, segunda edición), las cuatro organizaciones geográficas más relevantes de Estados Unidos iniciaron un proyecto de colaboración para redactar un documento a modo de libro blanco de la educación geográfica americana. Las siguientes instituciones (National Geographic Society, Association of American Geographers, National Council for Geographic Education, American Geographical Society) han impulsado dicho proyecto denominado “A road map for 21st century geography education”, dividido en tres comités, cada uno de los cuales ha redactado un documento propio sobre la temática trabajada: materiales didácticos y desarrollo profesional, evaluación en educación geográfica e investigación en educación geográfica.

   Critical thinking is essential if we are to get to the root of our problems and develop  
reasonable solutions. After all, the quality of everything we do  
is determined by the quality of our thinking. 

Whereas society commonly promotes values laden with superficial, immediate "benefits," critical thinking cultivates substance and true intellectual discipline. Critical thinking asks much from us, our students, and our colleagues. It entails rigorous self-reflection and open mindedness — the keys to significant changes. 

Critical thinking requires the cultivation of core intellectual virtues such as intellectual humility, perseverance, integrity, and responsibility. Nothing of real value comes easily; a rich intellectual environment — alive with curious and determined students — is possible only with critical thinking at the foundation of the educational process.
