DE LINEAL A HIPERTEXTO. La e-comunicación rompe la linealidad de la comunicación tradicional basada en la interacción entre emisor-receptor a partir de UN mensaje. Recientemente ha surgido el concepto de hipertexto, con el que se hace posible ver diferentes contenidos y mensajes en contextos diversos y navegar a través de la información.

DE INFORMACIÓN A CONOCIMIENTO. Con la e-comunicación NO podemos hablar de que haya habido un paso de la información al conocimiento. Es cierto que hay abundancia de información y que las tecnologías favorecen el conocimiento. Sin embargo, para que haya conocimiento es necesario que haya cambios en el sistema educativo para que se deje a un lado esa educación "formal" y se sustituya por una educación más participativa y más adaptada a las nuevas tecnologías. Solo así se podrá explotar el potencial educativo de las nuevas tecnologías.
