Re-create Historical Newspaper Reports that include On-location Video Reports - March 2015

Re-create Historical Newspaper Reports that include On-location Video Reports - March 2015 | Apps for Education | Scoop.it

Combining the tools of different apps for one purposeful outcome can be the key to successful use of iPads in lessons. Here is an example of combining the tools of Do Ink Green Screen, iMovie, Comic Life 3 and Book Creator Apps to create a historical newspaper that includes on-location video reports. Similar to something you may see in Harry Potter!

This is one of the 50 new lesson activity ideas within our new eBook: Book Creator Teacher Guide. You can download it now on your iPad or Mac for just 49p.

Inspiring Writing using Adventure Game Creation with Book Creator App - Sept 2014 Blog Post

Inspiring Writing using Adventure Game Creation with Book Creator App - Sept 2014 Blog Post | Apps for Education | Scoop.it

This term I have been working with upper Key Stage 2 pupils to develop interactive adventure style games in Book Creator. One of the features of the app is it allows you to link objects such as images and text to other pages within the book. For images, tap on the image to select it, then tap on the Info icon and use the hyperlink box to type in the page number. For text, highlight the text withIn the text box and you will see a hyperlink option.

This has enabled us to create games where choices, questions and decisions are asked of the user/player throughout. We have then used this as a stimulus for writing, not only creatively but also instruction and advertising. Above are a few screen shots of an example book I made but I didn't want to show the pupils too much as I wanted them to come up with their own ideas.

If you download apps, movies, and games on your iPhone or iPad, you're already familiar with what an iTunes account is and how it works. However, that doesn't always mean that the email or account you use for mail and iCloud is the same account you use for purchases. If you ever need to change what iTunes account is linked to your iPhone or iPad, you can do so in just a few steps....

Adobe Voice: A Powerful Storytelling App - Class Tech Tips

Adobe Voice: A Powerful Storytelling App - Class Tech Tips | Apps for Education | Scoop.it

#"Storytelling is a powerful way to inspire students, build community and give children a voice.  There are a few great apps that help students of all ages write and tell their own stories (Shadow Puppet, Toontastic) and a new app that I absolutely love is Adobe Voice.  This free iPad app is very user friendly and makes the storytelling process simple for children young and old.  Kids can add pictures, text, and even choose from different icons to bring their stories to life.  Adobe Voice has an easy recording feature for students to add their voice as narration.  There is a music library and a selection of themes for users to pick out and include in their final product."

Our iPad Classroom: The One Where We Switch to Front Row | Apps for Education | Scoop.it

"My 4th graders have been using the newly revamped Khan Academy website on our iPads since Mid-November. Things have been going great and I have seen a fantastic, better than average, increase in MAP Math scores from August to January.

I read a Tweet recently that mentioned an App called Front Row (or Front Row Ed Math). It is very similar to Khan in many ways but has some thing unique to it that I really like. Both Khan and Front Row are FREE and both give teachers access to "More Data About Their Students Than They Could Ever Use.""

Classroom PDF for iPad: Useful for teaching | iPad Insight

Classroom PDF for iPad: Useful for teaching | iPad Insight | Apps for Education | Scoop.it

"As any teacher will tell you, the last thing they want to be doing is faffing around with technology during a lesson. An easy way for a lesson to go quickly south is to be relying on a piece of technology to work there and then, and it suddenly doesn’t. Cue descent into chaos and a carefully planned lesson unravelling. This is one of the reasons why the iPad is so appealing in education, because it isn’t a faff (and this is coming from an Android fan). There are also certain apps on the iPad which work in an extremely straightforward way and do something very useful in the classroom. Classroom PDF is one of those apps."

You need a manual of Thinglink. Look at http://ict-idee.blogspot.nl/2012/10/130-maak-interactieve-illustraties-met.html#more (Manual in Dutch. Translate-button on site).
Paula Jamieson's curator insight, August 5, 2014 4:42 PM

I see huge value in the Thinglink tool (both App and Web), especially if you are a Google school and create or store digital archives online (as all you need is a URL to link too).

Our Year 4 to 6 teachers have created a Thinglink (placed on their clasblog) using their class photo and linked each one of the students blogs to it - simple, effective and visually capturing (Whanau love being able to view their blogs easily).
