a4cwsn's insight:

Children love “Touch and Write” – now, there’s “Touch and Write Storybook”!

“Touch and Write Storybook” was designed by classroom teachers and it is unique: on each page of the story, children master the story vocabulary using our engaging “Touch and Write” reading and writing activities. By the end of the story, children will have mastered almost 200 important vocabulary words, and learned the phonics pronunciations of each word’s letters!

In the Writing Room, children write the words from the current page of the story using fun textures like shaving cream, ketchup or jello. They learn the phonics pronunciation of each word’s letters as they write. In the Reading Room, children master reading these vocabulary words by following directions and giving the correct words to Goldilocks, Papa, Mama or Baby Bear.

In addition, “Touch and Write Storybook” includes the interactive features you expect: children can listen to the lines of the story as they are highlighted, children can tap and hear individual words, and children can tap around the illustration to learn new vocabulary. They can also take Papa’s Quiz by reading Papa’s word and tapping the correct part of the illustration. The storybook includes both “Read to Me” and “Read Myself” modes.

Just for fun, four interaction pages are spaced throughout the story. Help Goldilocks knock on the door – but watch out for characters from the wrong story! Help Goldilocks eat up her porridge – better blow on it to let it cool! Help Goldilocks rock in her rocking chair – can you rock her just right? And help Goldilocks test the beds – the sounds will tell you if a bed is too hard, too soft, or just right!

Prepare your child to become a strong reader and writer – the “Touch and Write” way!

“A simple, easy to use App that will introduce children to the concept of sequencing with numbers, A4cwsn”

Help children master the concept of number sequencing with this app! After completing the Hundred Board children often need to practice random sequencing of numbers from 1-100.

With this app children can practice:

What comes Before?

What comes After?

What comes in Between?

Each activity allows children to fill in the columns of numbers in any order they choose. Just touch a blue square in one of the columns and then find the appropriate number in the tray to complete the sequence.

Simple activities like this help solidify basic mathematical concepts, such as sequencing, required for all future studies in math!

This activity is a time-tested, teaching tool used in many Montessori classrooms around the world. The app itself was co-developed and approved by an AMI certified Montessori teacher with over forty years experience. Use this app as a complement to your child’s classroom education and as a follow-up to the other Montessori applications in the app store. Your child will enjoy this challenging and fun activity!

“Richard Scarry’s Busytown Cars are a fun way to introduce vehicles, spelling, and letter order while enjoying the amazing art work, A4cwsn”

Richard Scarry’s delightfully wacky cars come to life in this interactive educational game for kids ages 2-6. When the Apple Car arrives at a Busytown stoplight, kids spell a-p-p-l-e to help it zoom through the intersection. With five playing modes, including letter matching, early phonics and spelling, this app grows with your child.

Classic favorites like the Banana Mobile, Pickle Car and of course Lowly Worm’s Apple Car are among the 48 unique vehicles children can help zoom through the Busytown intersection. Brave Officer Flossy is hot on the trail of that bad driver Dingo. And look out for Goldbug along for the ride.

As children seek new challenges, parents can adjust the difficulty level.

At Level 1, children learn to recognize and match letters, and experience putting letters together to make words.
Level 2 maintains the skills from level 1 and adds left to right ordering to encourage children to match letters from left to right.
Level 3 provides exposure to early phonics. Gameplay is similar to Level 2, but now children can hear letter sounds come together to make words.
Level 4 challenges kids to figure out the order of the letters based on their sounds, without visual hints.
Level 5 brings in big words and sight words to help early readers practice spelling.

Be sure to check out our other popular educational play apps including First Letters and Phonics, First Words Animals, and First Words Deluxe.

“So much information in one amazing app, if you want to increase your knowledge of Africa and the animals that live there then this is the app for you, A4cwsn”

Introducing the first in a series of apps that will help children and adults learn about the animals of each continent and help raise awareness of endangered species!

This app features the animals of Africa. You will learn where each animal lives on the African continent, several facts about each animal, and their current conservation status.

Lesson #1 contains the Information Center with all the facts:

Touch an animal in the photo-strip to change the featured animal on the page. Touch the Map button to see the animal’s habitat highlighted on the map. Touch the Speaker button to hear the correct pronunciation of the animal name. Touch the Definition button to see and hear a detailed description of the animal as well as the Animal Facts box, containing dimensions, weight and conservation information. A list of Conservation definitions can be seen by touching the button on the top bar.

In Lessons #2 & #3 assemble the African Habitat maps by finding the animal prompted by the shown habitat or name. This activity expands the Continent Box activity found in the Montessori classrooms

In the first habitat map lesson children have to look for the animal that corresponds to the name shown at the top, as well as, the habitat shown on the map. When they touch the correct animal card, a representative animal shape will transfer to the map as the name of the animal is heard aloud.

In the second habitat map lesson children have to look for the animal that corresponds to the shown habitat only! This is more challenging, however, you will be pleasantly surprised how fast you will learn to memorize the animal habitats!

In Lesson #4 drag and place the animal puzzle pieces to the map. The locations correspond to their habitat and the name of the animal is heard aloud when it is placed correctly.

This Montessori application was co-developed and approved by an AMI certified, Montessori teacher with over forty years experience educating children!

We sincerely thank you for your downloads and suggestions!

This app begins a new series of Geography Apps for us! We sincerely thank you for your support of our other Montessori applications and hope you enjoy this one!

2013 Edison Award for Innovation Winner (Productivity Category).

Time Timer for iPad is a remarkably easy way to manage time.

The Time Timer for iPad App displays time as a red disk that quietly gets smaller as time elapses. Children as young as three understand that when the red is gone, time is up! And unlike many other visual timers, the Time Timer App has a professional look and packed feature set to help adults make every moment count. Highly recommended by experts in education, healthcare, ADHD, Autism and parenting.

Time Timer – Quick Start
In a hurry? Tap “Quick Start”, touch the number of minutes you need, and press Play! The red disk will count down to 0 and notify you when time is up (even if you’ve left the app). Tap the disk at any time to see a numerical readout of how much time is left.

Play a Timer
1. Select your Timer (up to 4 at a time).
2. Press “Play Timers.” The countdown will start instantly.

Create and Save Timers
When you create a new Time Timer, choose one of three visual modes:
1. Original 60-Minutes Mode: Just like Time Timer products, Minutes mode shows you your time as a portion of 60 minutes, make it easy to see how much time is left.
2. Custom Mode: The Custom Mode Timer can be any amount of time you need – 10 seconds, 10 minutes, 10 hours! Great for interval training.
3. Clock Mode: See what time it will be when your time is up!

Total Flexibility
+ View up to four Timers at once, or tap one Timer to bring it full-screen.
+ Edit one Timer while others keep counting down.
+ Use other apps while your Timer is running. The Time Timer app will notify you when time is up.

Awake Mode
Awake Mode ensures that your iPhone or iPod Touch will not fall asleep while you’re in the Time Timer App. To save battery life, switch Awake Mode Off. On the My Timers page, tap the Settings wheel in the upper-left corner and turn On to Off.

Make Every Moment Count!
Use the Time Timer App in:
+ Business: time your meetings, projects and presentations. Use Clock Mode to see your whole workday!
+ Education: teach a child what “five minutes” looks like. Help older students manage homework & tests without the stress of a numerical countdown.
+ Family: keep the family moving by timing housework, yard work, home work, time-outs and computer/tv time.
+ Healthcare: time your medications and workouts! Comfort a child during a medical procedure by showing how much time is left.
+ Special Needs: discover the profound impact that the Time Timer can have on ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and diverse special needs.
+ Life: beat the clock! Motivate yourself to keep going until the red disk is gone and time is up!

“A beautifully put together App that will introduce your child to the wonders of color, a4cwsn ”

With Intro to Colors, the world of colors comes alive. Inspired by the famous Montessori Color tablets, this dynamic and interactive app will guide your children through an appreciation of color, from the concrete to the abstract.

YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN

· The basic foundations of color
· Primary & Secondary Colors
· Color Shades & Gradients
· To identify, match and name colors
· To mix, paint and create colors
· To seek, find and select colors
· Fine motor skills

Intro to Colors is a universal app that will work on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices. The app is optimized for iPhone 5 and retina screens. The app features these activities:

PRIMARY COLORS

Learn to identify the primary colors, in a series of guided, interactive exercises using the color tablets. Your child will drag, match and tap on red, yellow and blue.

SECONDARY COLORS

Learn to identify, select and name the secondary colors, in a number of engaging activities using the color tablets.

GRADIENTS

Learn to appreciate gradients with the color wheel and by arranging the color tablets from light-to-dark or dark-to-light.

PAINT

Unleash your creativity on this blank canvas with this painting exercise. In the Montessori classroom, we provide only three colors (red, yellow, and blue) when painting. This constraint empowers children to mix colors and create new ones. Your child will learn that the three primary colors serve as the foundation for all colors.

SEARCH

Explore these creative artist scenes in this seek-and-find activity. Your child will listen for, find, and select the correct color as a fun way to recap their understanding of color.

a4cwsn's insight:

March of the Dinosaurs is an interactive storybook that comes alive in your hands with highly realistic 3D dinosaurs that spin and zoom at the touch of your fingers.

Another offering from Touch Press (creators of The Elements and Solar System for iPad), March of the Dinosaurs takes the reader on a journey for survival, fraught with danger – blizzards, volcanic eruptions and deadly predators. Set in the Arctic 70 million years ago, Scar, a young Edmontosaurus, embarks on his first thousand-mile migration. It is a world of extremes: hot summers with 24-hour sunlight are replaced by freezing winters with continuous night.

Follow the story page by page, either reading at your own pace or with the text dynamically highlighted and spoken by Dr Who actor Kerry Shale. Use your iPad to meet the cast: 10 realistic 3D animated dinosaurs that can be rotated and zoomed, featuring scientific fact files about each of the creatures. High definition digital animation, specially produced by the team behind the National Geographic special “Escape of the Dinosaurs”, brings alive dramatic key moments in the story.

Build and Explore
Five build-and-play activities bring the language and the images of the ocean to life. Ocean is playfully narrated and animated to reinforce vocabulary, physical attributes and ocean concepts.

*Coral Reef
*Marine Mammals
*Fish
*Boat
*Submersible

Free Play Exploration
The open ocean is a personal aquarium your child can explore however he or she chooses!

*Add marine animals and fish to the ocean and interact with more than 30 different species
