If students are stressed out, the information cannot get in.

The factors that have been found to affect this comfort level such as self-confidence, trust and positive feelings for teachers, and supportive classroom and school communities are directly related to the state of mind compatible with the most successful learning, remembering, and higher-order thinking

Multi-linguals might also be better decision-makers. According to a new study, they are more resistant to conditioning and framing techniques, making them less likely to be swayed by such language in advertisements or political campaign speeches.

An interesting article on computers and learning.  I am most interested in what happens when students no longer have to deal with the "tedious" parts of a curriculum.  My sense is that eventually, not developing grit is not worth the trade off in more knowledge.

Norton Gusky's curator insight, October 29, 7:15 AM

At each leap in technology - moving from story-telling to writing - there are people who question and people who tout the benefits. Alfred Spector from Google and others look at the new opportunities with technology to personalize and use the power of the "crowd."

Seeing Is Believing: Visual vs. Linear Content

Seeing Is Believing: Visual vs. Linear Content | Applied linguistics and knowledge engineering | Scoop.it

"In order for our learners to see how designing information changes how it is viewed, the students this year placed their visual infographics side-by-side with their linear notes to see the transformation. It was the “ah ha” moment, when they could examine how the delivery of content mattered and how the deliberate choices in font hierarchy, color selection, and placement changed the way others perceived the ideas."
