Reports suggest that both Facebook and Apple employees—and likely others, including Twitter—visited an infected Web site laden with malware, which exploited a vulnerability in Java. Now the cause has been identified, here's what you can do.
The root cause is reportedly one iPhone development Web site that became infected with malware, which was then able to dump its malicious payload on vulnerable machines. If those infected machines were connected then to a corporate network, that network will likely have been infected.

Remote code flaws in browser fixed
Apple has released security updates to protect users from remote code executions in the company's Safari and OS X platforms.
The company said that the Safari 6.0.3 update would include fixes to patch vulnerable components of the browser and its WebKit engine. The update includes fixes for flaws which, if targeted by an attacker, could allow for remote code execution attacks.
Additionally, the update addresses a pair of flaws in the browser which could be exploited by attackers to perform a cross-site scripting attack.
Apple is recommending that users running OS X Lion download the Safari update through the Apple Software Update application.

The Oslo Freedom Forum is an annual event "exploring how best to challenge authoritarianism and promote free and open societies."
This year's conference (which took place May 13-15) had a workshop for freedom of speech activists on how to secure their devices against government monitoring.
During the workshop, Jacob Appelbaum actually discovered a new and previously unknown backdoor on an African activist's Mac.
Our Mac analyst (Brod) is currently investigating the sample.

Minority groups in China appear to have been targeted by a Mac malware attack, delivered via boobytrapped Word documents.
Who could possibly be interested in targeting their computers?
It is true that there is much less malware for OS X than there is for Windows, but that's not going to make you feel any better if you end up targeted in an attack like this.
Mac users, just like Windows users, need to ensure that they install the latest security patches and keep their software properly up-to-date.
If you're not already doing so, run anti-virus software on your Macs.
If you're a home user, there really is no excuse at all as we offer a free anti-virus for Mac consumers.

Apple's Siri has become known as one of the iPhone's most powerful tools, but now the length of time that system holds user data has come under the spotlight.
Amidst inquiries from the American Civil Liberties Union, an Apple spokeswoman told Wired that

NEWARK, New Jersey (AP) — A man convicted of illegally gaining access to AT&T's servers and stealing more than 100,000 email addresses of iPad users is facing sentencing.

The former Arkansas resident was convicted in November of identity theft and conspiracy to gain unauthorized access to computers. Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 33 to 41 months. Auernheimer's attorney says his client should receive probation.
