Here is the new guided tour showcasing the new Apple Classroom app. The following information is from Apple's Edu site: "Classroom is a powerful new iPad app that helps teachers guide learning, share work, and manage student devices. Teachers can launch a specific app, website, or textbook page on any device in the class, or share student work on a TV, monitor, or projector using Apple TV. They can even reset a student’s password, see which apps students are working in, and assign a specific shared iPad for the class period. Upcoming iOS 9.3 Update a Potential Game Changer for Teaching with iPads

Upcoming iOS 9.3 Update a Potential Game Changer for Teaching with iPads | Apple Devices in Education | Scoop.it
Those of us who use iPads in education were excited to hear about some new features in the upcoming iOS 9.3. It looks like Apple is making an effort in improving how iPads work in the classroom. A common complaint about iPads in schools was that they are difficult to share amongst multiple classes. Now, with 9.3, administrators and teachers will be able to have a lot more control over their student's individual iPads. Managing a class set of iPads has never been the easiest task. With this update, it should become a much better experience. Also, students will be able to “share” iPads in a much better and “cleaner” way. Individual profiles can be created so that multiple users can use the same iPad.

iPad apps vs iPad pedagogy - LearnMaker

iPad apps vs iPad pedagogy - LearnMaker | Apple Devices in Education | Scoop.it
What separates the successful mobile learning projects from the unsuccessful? This is a ‘million dollar’ question, and I’ve thought long and hard about it. From the 17 large 1:1 projects I’ve worked on, only three have been truly successful in producing transformational learning. In your own experience, how many schools do you know who have transformed learning vs how many you know rely on iPads as laptop placements, focusing on web browsing and research functions only? I’m sure you’ll draw similar conclusions to my own, but if a handful of schools can transform learning with mobile devices, how do we replicate it across more schools? I believe I’ve found the answer.

Tim Yenca's insight:

This is the key point of this post...

"TPACK is the perfect framework in this case, and all you need to do is master the three components:

1 - Technological: Ability to use the device.2 - Pedagogical: The understanding of how to embed the device into the curriculum.3 - Content: Having tasks, exercises and content available to teach with (this is not apps).

Using iMovie App in Physical Education Lessons - November 2014

Using iMovie App in Physical Education Lessons - November 2014 | Apple Devices in Education | Scoop.it

This month I have been supporting the PE department with using the iPads to enhance their lessons and pupils to analyse skills. Last year Apple updated iMovie app to include features such as Split Screen, Freeze Frame, Video Speed etc. This year the update has made some of these features a little easier to find.

Split Screen: We have used this to compare videos of the same skill taken from two different angles. For example, a cricket bowling action.

Video Speed: We have used this by splitting part of a clip where the skill is most demonstrated and slowing it down.

Freeze Frame: We can stop a clip at any point and create a freeze frame. This freeze frame can be split at either end to create a separate clip and textual analysis added.

I would also like to say a big thank you for all the great feedback to the iPad Teachers App. We are only at the start of the content we can add to this so look out for the first update in mid December with even more ideas. Details of the app can be found at www.ipadteachers.co.uk
