.....Medical professionals treated thousands of injured protesters as part of their duty during the uprising that began on 14 February, 2011. They tended to the wounded and saved lives while putting their own at risk.

One month later, the Bahraini authorities arrested 64 doctors and medics (BICI Report 694) who had treated injured victims. They were arrested in operating theatres, elsewhere in the hospitals in which they worked and at home by armed security forces. No warrants were issued for their arrest, and for nearly two months they were subjected to torture and abuse......
