Adobe Slate on the Web: iPad & Browser Creation Tool @ClassTechTips

Adobe Slate on the Web: iPad & Browser Creation Tool @ClassTechTips | App Articles | Scoop.it
Creation tools empower students to tell their own stories and demonstrate their understanding.  I’m a big fan of Adobe Slate which is available on the web and on iOS devices.  This powerful tool lets users create their own visual presentations hosted on the web.  Students combine images, text, and links and choose from multiple themes.

Adobe Slate creations are connected to a link making it easy to share a final project with teachers, peers, and family.  Adobe Slate can be used on the web or through their app for iPads.  It’s a free tool that gives students the power to tell stories and show what they know – straight from their mobile device or laptop.

A New Kind of Social Anxiety in the Classroom - The Atlantic

A New Kind of Social Anxiety in the Classroom - The Atlantic | App Articles | Scoop.it
Stress about a meeting that is still a week away, handwringing before talking to the cashier in the grocery line, worrying about seeing an acquaintance on the street—for people with social anxiety disorder, even the simplest task can prove challenging. The symptoms of social anxiety often set in around adolescence, when people place a new emphasis on social interactions and their place in their peer groups. But some academics fear that greater access to technology could exacerbate social anxiety among teens, particularly as smartphones, tablets, and computers become omnipresent in and out of the classroom. And even though teachers are increasingly exploiting the devices as learning tools, they also play an integral role in stemming the tide of social anxiety.

“Was it the use of technology that has created a heightened sense of anxiety about talking to someone face to face, or did it start with social anxiety that led to increased use of social media?”  <--- The most poignant statement in this article. What do you think?

Over 20 Good Apps to Use in BYOD Classroom ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Over 20 Good Apps to Use in BYOD Classroom ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | App Articles | Scoop.it
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is not only about students bringing their own devices to class and using them for educational purposes. It is much more than just a problem of hardware but is rather a question of what "learningware" students need to install and use with their devices. Most of the discussions on BYOD center around the accessibility and availability of devices together with the fact that students are experts of their own devices. Sounds good but not enough!

Students need to be provided powerful educational apps to galvanize the learning gen inside of them. They need to be shown what apps work with which. Below is a Symbalo board featuring a wide variety of powerful web tools and apps perfect for BYOD classrooms. Click on the image below to access the interactive version of this board where you can access the links of each of these apps.

Mod Math Specifics:
