Tracy Galvin's curator insight, April 16, 4:04 PM

It is so hard to think about the fact that as the world becomes familiar with a product and the producers of that product gain more wealth, the price of it goes up so much that the producers cannot afford it. Quinoa is such a wonderful food item because of its high nutritional value. As Bolivians become more exposed to the rest of the world they also become exposed to our non-nutritional food offerings and the health of their families declines.

Watch NYC Gentrify Right Before Your Eyes

Watch NYC Gentrify Right Before Your Eyes | AP Human Geography @ Hermitage High School - Ms. Anthony | Scoop.it

New York City has always been changing. But recently, the city has seen a wave of luxury condos and artisanal cupcake boutiques uproot local delis and dive bars.

To make sure we don't forget the city's past, two New York-based photographers, James and Karla Murray, set out to document the city's transformation. The result was a book, titled "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York," in which they photographed of mom-and-pop stores around the city.

Seth Dixon's curator insight, March 28, 9:26 AM

This is a great example of cross-cultural interactions.  Pidgin is assumed to be a language of the lower classes and not of the diplomats.  Sometimes the best way to reach be is to meet them where they are at and validate their cultural expressions.

Albert Jordan's curator insight, April 29, 11:48 AM

Diplomacy isnt always do this or do that and we will return in kind, but is instead majority(atleast with smaller nations), getting in and showing the locals that you can relate with them. By showing Nigerians that this well taken care of white man from America was not going to show up and push American interests, but instead, show that he(an extension of America) was going to attempt and speak to them in their language goes miles. Its not much, but atleast trying to win the hearts and minds through cultural attachments instead of throwing money at an issue can be all that is needed for smaller scale geopolitics.
