For the past 50 years, Americans have been fleeing the colder upper midwest for the warm states.

 

Are Americans really trying to be more energy efficient or are they just tired of paying high heating costs...or just sick of the cold?  This map and graph reflect the population shift over the past 50 years of a substantial number who have vacated colder climates for warmer ones.
