A diet of bread and water is the punishment for dozens of Arizona inmates who allegedly defaced American flags placed in their jail cells.
Margaret Grayson's insight:

I find this extremely interesting. We recently discussed in class that the Supreme Court ruled flag-burning a legal act under the first amendment, so it's weird that prisoners are being punished for this. Also, isn't there an amendment against cruel and unusual punishment? I'm pretty sure changing a prisoner's diet counts as an unusual punishment. So will the Arizona sheriff get away with this?
