Target hack: Tips for all customers

Target hack: Tips for all customers | AP Government | Scoop.it
The Target holiday hack stole 40 million credit and debit cards. But it also broke into Target's massive database of information on 70 million customers. Here's what to do.
Trista Hooley's insight:

My mom and I shopped at Target while this was going on, without knowledge of it. Why hasn't the hacker been caught yet? The NSA claims to be able to track terrorists through the data streams around the country, so why can't they find one guy? It confuses me.

President gives in to pressure from European diplomats to defuse crisis dividing country but opposition wants his resignation
Trista Hooley's insight:

This upsets me. Partially because I was (and hopefully still am) planning on going to Ukraine this July for a mission's trip. It also upsets me that the government is just kind of sitting by and watch it's people rebel. Like, I know that they're trying to attempt to stop it, but still. It seems like they're just doing to opposite of what the people want and not really giving them a straight answer. I feel like they should at least tell their people what's going on and why.

Trista Hooley's insight:

This is absolutely horrible. That a child could be pushed past the breaking point to do this. I feel like school securities should definitely be upgraded. If the schools don't have enough money, that should be one thing that the government provides for. However, I also don't think that things like this should be broadcasted over the media like they are. It spreads the ideas to other people around the nation who may get the same idea and go about the same ways, hence why there have been so many school shootings lately. But that also goes back to security. Because that idea is being broadcasted to every corner of every school around the country, safety policies and procedures should become much more common in schools. Especially small schools like Columbine High School, Arapahoe High School, Sandy Hook Elementary, and Berrendo Middle School in Roswell, or even my small hometown of Bayfield. We have zero security in our school; it would be so easy for someone to just walk in with a gun. The government, whether it be state, federal, or national, should provide the money and resources to schools to prevent the opportunity for any student to be able to do such a horrible thing. Events like the Roswell shooting should never even have the chance to happen. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to those families who were affected in such a tragic event.

Trista Hooley's insight:

This is absolutely terrible. Cops should have respectable morals and justice, not just go in and do what they feel like. Cop violence has sky-rocketed tremendously. Before someone becomes a cop, they should have a background check, as well as be placed in scenarios like this just to see how they would react. It's not ethical or right for him to go in and just straight up shoot some one.
