The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week in a case about the constitutionality of a New York town's practice of beginning local legislative meetings with mostly Christian prayers.
Sarah Kubena's insight:
This news story is about Justice Breyer and whether he admitted to being an atheist (or nontheist, for that matter). Personally, I' m very glad that the separation of church and state is being debated so thoroughly. As an atheist myself, the "under God" part of the US (also Texas) pledge is why I do not say it. This country has a tendency to favor Christian aspects of multiple ideas, and it's actually quite annoying. it only serves to cater to the idealistic idea that Christianity is the most important religious denomiation in the US, which is quite frankly not true, and very absurd.
