I find that the use of the name of Lysander is quite ironic. Lysander was a Spartan naval comander, he led Sparta against the Athenians, so him being used in a play based in Athens is strange. Also Helena is derived from Helen a Spartan Queen, who's "face launched a thousand ships.
This article plays on the fact that the actors in the play within the play are amatures and have no idea what they are doing. For the wedding of someone with such power as Theseus, one would expect that the actors would be much better than the group hired. Also it is evident that the lack of resources was very limiting for actors in this time period.
