Anucha DiPalma's insight:

Image

This image portrays the mysteriousness of the woods in the play. It shows the many faries, but also shows the amount of cover in the woods, for several of the faries are hidden, illustrating the way the woods provide a sense of cover in the night.

Source-Lysander

Anucha DiPalma's insight:

Source

I find that the use of the name of Lysander is quite ironic. Lysander was a Spartan naval comander, he led Sparta against the Athenians, so him being used in a play based in Athens is strange. Also Helena is derived from Helen a Spartan Queen, who's "face launched a thousand ships.

Video-Mendelssohn A Midsummer Night's Dream Overture Op.21 by Masur, LGO (1997)

Anucha DiPalma's insight:

Video

Instead of an actual video of the play, I find that the song better represents the way the play flows through. This portion would be more along the lines of the woods scenes.

Literary Criticism-The Actors

Literary Criticism-The Actors | Anucha's A Midsummer Night's Dream | Scoop.it
Anucha DiPalma's insight:

Literary Criticism

This article plays on the fact that the actors in the play within the play are amatures and have no idea what they are doing. For the wedding of someone with such power as Theseus, one would expect that the actors would be much better than the group hired. Also it is evident that the lack of resources was very limiting for actors in this time period.
