"In its 2014 Trafficking in Persons report released June 20, the U.S. State Department downgraded Malaysia to its lowest Tier 3 status. The downgrade puts Malaysia at risk of American economic and diplomatic penalties. Thailand, recently in the news for its reliance on slave labor in its seafood industry, was also downgraded to Tier 3, as were Venezuela and Gambia. These four countries join North Korea, Iran, Zimbabwe and 16 other countries as those doing the least to combat human trafficking."

Jamaican man found guilty of sex trafficking in US, Australia

"Damion St. Patrick Baston, 37, of New York, was convicted on three counts of sex trafficking – both in the United States and Australia – five counts of transporting multiple individuals for prostitution, one count of importation of an alien for prostitution, one count of using a passport secured by false statement, one count of aggravated identity theft and nine counts of money laundering. Baston was also found guilty of illegally reentering the United States after being previously removed."

"The gang trafficked more than 100 women into the UK, some of whom were forced into prostitution and raped.

Vishal Chaudhary, 35, described as "the boss" was sentenced to 12 years, Krisztian Abel, 33, to 10 years, Attila Kovacs, 33, was given six years and Kunal Chaudhary, 32, got five years.

Szilvia Abel, 24, was sentenced to three years at Croydon Crown Court."
