In my multimedia presentation called, "Place, Culture, Identity and Difference: Limitless Possibilities", I tried to weave together constructs of place, culture and identity through images that evoke particular meanings. I chose labels and questions that challenge the meaning each picture evokes and presented them as a series of black and white photos. I included images depicting "difference" in colour in contrast to the black and white images of constructs. I chose a number of quotes from Kathleen Winter, as well as Gail Boldt, Rebecca Martusewicz, Carolyn Shields, and Robert Fritz, which I felt were central to the novel as they really summed up place, identity, difference and possibility. The presentation is accompanied by a song by Five for Fighting called World. I chose this piece of music because the lyrics challenge us to think about what kind of world we want to inhabit and gives the listener a sense that we have the ability to create a better world. Overall, the presentation forces us to rethink what we consider "normal" in terms of place, culture and identity and to open our minds to the limitless possibilities that exist.
