Compounds in cacao may be beneficial for decreasing inflammation. These benefits, however, are often negated due to the high sugar and fat content of chocolates. Aim for a serving of no more than 50-100 calories per day of dark chocolate with at least 75% cacao!

Anti-Inflammatory Diet

The importance of an anti-inflammatory diet and how to implement it into your everyday life is addressed in this interview with Dr. David Seaman.

Dr. David Seaman and Dr. Donald DeFabio discuss how the standard American diet is high in aracadonic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid). These omega-6s then turns into pain-producing prostaglandins. Many individuals take prostaglandin-inhibiting drugs (ex. NSAIDS), but decreasing intake of foods high in omega-6s and increasing intake of omega-3s can give you the same effect without medications!

 

There are some "commercials" within the video. To skip, fast forward to 8:43 at the first break, then 15:30 after the second, and to skip through the bit about vaccines and vitamin D in the second half fast forward to 23:03!
