Odyesse Kirkendoll's insight:

Immigration

The 1920’s was an important time for America. The Things that  happened shaped America into what it is today. The 1920’s is often referred to as the “CLASH OF CULTURES”. During this time a lot of things were built and new things were tried and some failed. By this time more people were living in the city and not on farms. In few cases the government taxed new arrivals that came to America. During WW1 many African Americans came to America to help out and fill jobs during the war. America was the corner stone of a new hope. The government was being pressured by western states to slow immigration down. Many of the men who came back from the war were out of jobs. Which left and uprising in violent behaviors. Many men caused riots and burned down entire city blocks. These people mostly targeted African American, Asians, jappaneese ect.

Due to the outrage a group was formed called the KKK. This group was ran by the whites.  It targeted anyone who did not fit into There race. These men killed many people by shooting or hanging and they would also burn crosses.  Due to immigration an acts was passed. The immigration act which limited annual immigration from particular countries.  Many Americans thought that the “New comers” would have an impact of American values. Many things changed some for good and some for bad. The immigrates contributed weather the Americans wanted to admit to it or not.  Things flourished new art and music  became popular. This brought about the Harlem Renaissance. Ultimately the 1920’s was the corner stone of events to come in which led America to be what it is today. In my eyes if this time period did not happen America would not be as advanced as it is today.
