Pinkie Pie's No Fear Song

When I was a little filly and the sun was going dooooooown.

The darkness and the shadows they would always make me frooooooooown.

I'd hide under my pillow from what I thought I saw, but Granny Pie said that wasn't the way to deal with fears at aaaaalllllll.

She said, Pinkie you gotta stand up tall, learn to face your fears, you'll see that they can't hurt you just laugh to make them disappeeeeear.

HA HA HA

Sooooooo, giggle at the ghosty(goatse).
Guffaw at the grossly.
Crack up at the creepy.
Woof it up with the weepy.
Chortle at the cooky.

And to tell that big ol' scary face to take a hike and leave you alone and if he thinks he's scary than he's got another thing coming and the very idea of such a thing just makes you wanna HAHHAHAAHAHA laaaauuuuuuugh.

Naruto Anime Theme Park Attraction to Open in March

The Laguna Gamagori marine resort complex announced on Monday that it will host a "Naruto - Memories of Chakra in Lagunasia" theme park attraction from March 17 to September 2. The event will commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Naruto action television anime series and coincide with the resort's own tenth anniversary.

The event's main attraction will be "Memories of Chakra," a recreation of the anime's famous scenes from the time Naruto sets out on his ninja journey to the beginning of the Shinobi World War. The Lagunasia theme park's nine areas will also include the "Hokage Monument," "Konohagakure Village Ninjutsu Dojo," "Hokage Palace," and "Ninpoudo" shop where guests can enjoy a menu inspired by the anime and purchase exclusive promotional goods.

Every area of Lagunasia complex will be decorated with a Naruto motif, and visitors can experience all the displays and attractions by participating in the "Sharingan Stamp Rally." Character shows will also take place during the event.

The complex is located in Gamagori City in the central Japanese prefecture of Aichi. Laguna Gamagori already held a "Mighty Atom Exhibition in Lagunasia" event from September to November 2009 and ran a "One Piece Memorial Log in Lagunasia" event from March to June 2010.

Director Miike: Ace Attorney Film Will See Int'l Release

Director Miike: Ace Attorney Film Will See Int'l Release | Anime News | Scoop.it

via animenewsnetwork.com

Director Miike: Ace Attorney Film Will See Int'l Release

At the world premiere of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (the live action adaptation of the popular Phoenix Wright games), director Takashi Miike expressed his expectation that the film would be released internationally.

The premiere took place at International Film Festival Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. Following the premiere of the film, which runs 135 minutes and covers the first five court cases in the game, Miike stated that there are plans to release the film internationally, with local subtitling and dubbing. Twitch noted that the film screening's English subtitles anglicized character names to reflect the game's American release. (For example, Ryuuichi Naruhodo is subtitled as "Phoenix Wright.")

Sale of international distribution rights is common practice for nearly all motion pictures, and distribution in a local area cannot occur until those rights are sold to a local distributor. Unfortunately, Miike did not comment directly as to whether any rights sales had yet taken place for the film.

Takashi Miike's film adaptation of CAPCOM's videogame franchise takes place in a parallel Japan, where a large increase in harsh crimes has led to a new court system. Under this new system, the defense attorney and public prosecutor have three days to battle cases out in open court to determine guilt or innocence of the accused, placing priority on speed instead of thorough investigation.

The film will open in Japan on February 11.

Annotated Anime: Winter 2012 Week 4 | Japanator.com | Anime News | Scoop.it

Why am I watching The Prince of Tennis II at four o'clock in the morning? Have I lost control of my life? Everything else was taken. It was either this or The Daily Lives of High School Boys. Now, let me tell you about what the guys did this week while still retaining some degree of dignity.

On this week's episode of The Prince of Tennis II players were instructed to chose a partner for training purposes. Everyone in the camp ran around anxiously looking for a friend to pair up with. Some experienced the pain of being among the last to be chosen. Others prematurely bragged about their superior social standing.

The twist of the week was that partners were in fact to fight elimination while playing against each other. Those failing to comply were told that they would be likewise eliminated. Bros struggled to come to terms with the ugly side of competition. Many "doubles" duos split up as former members were forced to compete against each other.

The highlight of the episode was Eiji (aka Snarf from Thundercats) using his special move "Kikumaru Beam" during a game against his long-time friend Oishi. Truly heart-breaking. My life will never be the same...

Why Manga Publishing Is Dying (And How It Could Get Better)

Why Manga Publishing Is Dying (And How It Could Get Better) | Anime News | Scoop.it

If in 2007, manga was like a foreign movie star who had arrived on American shores to make it big, the last four years have been like watching that star run out of roles, run out of money, sell their house, go into rehab, and end up barely limping along in infomercials.

Dropping Sales

Manga sales in America have dropped 43% since 2007, an even bigger drop than domestically produced comics and graphic novels, suggesting that more than the bad economy is to blame. A few doomsayers like Toren Smith had claimed for years that the market was headed for a bust since publishers were glutting the market with too much junk.

Hayao Miyazaki: Studio Ghibli films spirited away to the big screen

Hayao Miyazaki: Studio Ghibli films spirited away to the big screen | Anime News | Scoop.it
Disney and Pixar Chief John Lasseter has called Hayao Miyazaki, the co-founder of Japan’s revered Studio Ghibli, one of the greatest animators of all time.

Starting Thursday, the American Cinematheque is showing 14 examples of his studio’s genre-defying works, including the Oscar-winning “Spirited Away,” the children’s fantasy “My Neighbor Totoro” and the more adult fantasy “Princess Mononoke” (featuring an English-language adaptation by fantasy heavyweight Neil Gaiman) at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.

“There’s a humanity in these films,” said Eric Beckman, whose company GKids put together the current touring retrospective. “Even the fantasy films are based on a real sense of magic and wonder in everyday things. Every tree or blade of grass or rock or animal has this spiritual essence of life.”

Yuu Aoi Photographed as Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin's Megumi

The Cinema Today and Eiga.com websites posted a photograph on Wednesday of actress Yuu Aoi as the popular character Megumi Takani in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin film.

Aoi plays against type in the role of Megumi — an enigmatic, assertive female doctor who is not above getting her hands dirty to survive. Aoi played younger characters in earlier films such as Hana and Alice and Honey and Clover. Although Megumi is in her 20s in the original manga and film, she is also the oldest of all the female characters in the film's main cast.

Aoi explained some of the choices made in the look of her character. For example, instead of trimming her eyebrows to match the manga version of Megumi, she only partially trimmed her eyebrows. "I make some effort to try to look like the character of the original," Aoi said, "since doing so would honor and respect the original work, but I don't think that I have to be absolute about it."

Keishi Ōtomo is directing this samurai film with actor Takeru Satoh (Kamen Rider Den-O, Rookies, Beck, Ryōmaden) playing the title character Kenshin Himura and actress Emi Takei playing the heroine Kaoru Kamiya. Munetaka Aoki (The Last Message Umizaru, live-action The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) plays Sanosuke Sagara, and Taketo Tanaka plays Yahiko Myōjin. Yosuke Eguchi (Shonan Bakusozoku, Tokyo Love Story) as Hajime Saitō, musician/actor Kouji Kikkawa (Let's Dance With Papa) as Jin'e Udō, and Teruyuki Kagawa (From Up On Poppy Hill, 20th Century Boys) as Kanryū Takeda round out the cast.

The film will open in Japan on August 25, 2012.

Earlier photographs from the film were posted online in December and January.

2 More Arrietty US Dub Clips Streamed

The CinemaBlend.com and Moviefone.com websites have posted two more clips from the forthcoming American English dub of The Secret World of Arrietty anime film this week. The clips show the title character trying to convince her parents to let her join a "borrowing mission" with her father. Arrietty and her father then go on the mission.

The film will open in North America on February 17.

First-time director Hiromasa Yonebayashi re-imagines Mary Norton's 1952 novel The Borrowers by moving the story to a Tokyo suburb. The story revolves around Arrietty (voiced by Bridgit Mendler), a member of the "little people" who live under the floorboards of a regular human family's home, and their struggle to remain hidden from the human "beans." Will Arnett and Amy Poehler — a real-life couple — voice Arrietty's father and mother.

The movie originally opened in Japanese theaters in July 2010 with supervision by Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. The film also received a different English dub in the United Kingdom, and the film already ran in theaters there in August.

One Piece's New World Film's Story Outlined

One Piece's New World Film's Story Outlined | Anime News | Scoop.it
Toei revealed the plot on Monday for the newest One Piece film, which will be set in the New World. The film will feature the Straw Hat pirate crew against their "strongest enemy yet," a man named "Z." Toei officials added that in the film the franchise's protagonist Monkey D. Luffy will encounter Z, but he will be Luffy's strongest enemy. The movie will feature a "heroic battle" between Luffy and Z.

Toei also confirmed on Monday that the film, directed by Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventure in Alabasta), will open in December. Eiichiro Oda himself will oversee the production for the film as its executive producer. Oda previously oversaw the production on the One Piece: Strong World film (pictured at right).

Oda's One Piece pirate manga entered the New World arc last fall, and the television anime adaptation followed suit this past October. There has not been a feature-length One Piece film since One Piece Film Strong World in 2009, although there was the half-hour "One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase" short last March. There was also a "One Piece 3D Gekisō! Trap Coaster" event short at select theme parks and theaters in December.

The film's original announcement said that the film would "surpass Strong World" and noted that the film will show the "first battle in the New World arc on the final seas!!"

Manga Review: Dawn of the Arcana Vol 1

Manga Review: Dawn of the Arcana Vol 1 | Anime News | Scoop.it

While the action is mostly non existent and it seems to follow the standard format for shojo titles, Dawn of the Arcana Volume 1 is an enjoyable title thanks to its convincing characters, the role the world plays into the story, and solid pacing. There’s a reason why this was pretty popular in Japan, and while nothing was necessarily shocking, there seems to be a lot of potential moving forward. In this fantasy world, there are two kingdoms on one small island–Senan in the North, Belquat in the South. For centuries they’ve both fought countless wars, with neither side letting up. However, to calm down both sides when things got out of control, a royal marriage between the two was formed. It wouldn’t last very long. So now with the next marriage between the sides, we meet Princess Nakaba (Senan) and Prince Caesar (Belquat). Let’s just say they both have an inherent disdain for each other. But of course, Nakaba knows she’s essentially been sacrificed without gain–now comes how she’ll survive within enemy territory....

366 Days of Anime School Uniforms: Day 27/366 Squid Girl | Oishii Anime

366 Days of Anime School Uniforms: Day 27/366 Squid Girl | Oishii Anime | Anime News | Scoop.it

Shinryaku! Ika Musume mostly takes place at a beach with a silly squid girl but a few times we get to see the girls actually attend their school like normal kids!

We barely ever see the girls going to school in this anime but I'm rather glad about that because absolutely nothing is amazing about these uniforms. The boy ones are generic as generic can be with black pants and a white shirt. The girl uniforms are a plain typical sailor styled uniform. I do find it interesting that the skirt is black instead of a typical blue. I also like the fact that it is a sailor uniform because the rest of the anime takes place on a beach. Just a cute little detail to make the school uniform a sailor suit in my opinion....

Japanese companies outsourcing anime - Entertainment News, Animation, Media - Variety

Japanese companies outsourcing anime - Entertainment News, Animation, Media - Variety | Anime News | Scoop.it

Ninjas in India? Believe it. Japan's TV Asahi network is partnering with Indian toon producer Reliance Media Works to make 26 episodes of "Ninja Hattori-kun," a revival of a classic kiddie TV toon series.

The new strand, the first for the series in 25 years, is aimed at both the Japanese and other Asian markets, including India, where the vintage toon adventures of the pint-sized ninja are a staple on Nickelodeon's Nick India. Shin-ei, the TV Asahi subid that made the original show, will provide creative direction, while Reliance will handle production chores.

Foreign outsourcing of anime goes back decades, but in recent years the pace has been picking up, to the point where observers fret about the cratering of a key Japanese content industry. "A third of the labor pool for Japanese animation is actually outside Japan," says Jonathan Clements, an anime maven writing an industrial history of Japanese animation for the British Film Institute. "I can see that climbing ever higher, until a Japanese animation company is three men in a Tokyo apartment, outsourcing every other aspect of production overseas."
