Warner Bros Announce Production Of Viz’s All You Need Is Kill | Anime News | Scoop.it

Viz Media’s All You Need Is Kill novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka is being adapted into a major Warner blockbuster for 2014, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, courtesy of Legendary Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.

Directed by Doug Liman, from a screenplay by Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie and Joby Harold, the film will be shot at Warners’ Leavesden studios, and begins production today.

Call it Groundhog Day meets Halo, an untrained soldier in a war being fought against alien invaders finds himself dying, again and again, living the same day infinitely, each time growing as a soldier and becoming battle-worn. He is very literally playing a video game life. And death. Where Game Over never is.

And yes, that role will be played by Tom Cruise.

Erwin Stoff, Gregory Jacobs and Jeffrey Silver will produce, with executive directors Jason Hoffs, Joby Harold, Doug Liman, Dave Bartis, Tom Lassally, Hidemi Fukuhara, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Garcia and Bruce Berman. Tim Lewis and Kim Winther will co-produce.

Majestic Prince Space Robot Manga Has Anime in the Works

Majestic Prince Space Robot Manga Has Anime in the Works | Anime News | Scoop.it

ANN confirmed that, as of Tuesday night, the register counters at Tokyo-area 7-Eleven convenience stores are showing a Monthly Hero's magazine ad, and that ad reveals that an anime of Rando Ayamine and Hikaru Niijima's Majestic Prince manga is in the works. Ayamine co-created the Getbackers manga and anime, before writing and designing this new manga that Niijima draws.

The story follows humanity after it expanded its frontier into space in a quest for resources. Advances in genetic engineering research allow humans to adapt to the new frontier, leading to the advent of evolved children such as the protagonist Izuru. Izuru enrolls in an academy city called Gurantseere to fulfill his mission of "protecting humanity."

The cover of Monthly Hero's magazine's November issue appears on the magazine's official website, but the website's image (pictured right) deliberately leaves out the text announcing the anime. The issue will go on sale on October 1.

The manga launched in the magazine's inaugural issue last October, and Shogakukan Creative will publish the first volume of the manga next month.

(To turn off the scrolling comments, select the word balloon icon on the bottom right corner of the video.)

The first two promotional videos earlier this summer revolved around the main character Rei Ōgami/Code:06 (Nobuhiko Okamoto) and fellow Code:Breaker Toki/Code:04 (Kenichi Suzumura).

This anime series is slated to premiere in Japan on October 6. Yasuhiro Irie (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Kurau: Phantom Memory) is directing the series at the studio Kinema Citrus. Yukie Akiya serves as the character designer and chief animation director, and Masayuki Sakoi serves as the assistant director.

The remaining main cast includes Subaru Kimura (Mawaru Penguindrum's Kanba) as Masaomi Heike, Mitsuki Saiga (.hack's Tsukasa) as Rui Hachiōji, and Shinichiro Miki (Bleach's Kisuke Urahara) as Hitomi.

Del Rey Manga published two volumes of the manga in North America in 2010 (before Kodansha USA took over Del Rey's manga titles) and described the plot as follows:

Rei seems like an affable transfer student to everyone around him, but quirky high school beauty Sakura sees his true face as a terrifying vigilante - a "nonexistent" Code:Breaker who cannot be touched by the law. And since Sakura has just witnessed the effects of his deadly blue flame, she's slated to be the next to burn!

One Piece: Romance Dawn PSP Has 30 Minutes of New Anime

This year's 43rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump is revealing on Monday that the PSP "pirate romance" role-playing game One Piece Romance Dawn: Bōken no Yoake will include about 30 minutes of brand-new anime. It also confirms that Crocodile and Wapol will be bosses that players will face in the game, as well as indicates that Chopper will be a playable character alongside Luffy, Nami, Zoro, and others.

This game is not based on "Romance Dawn," Eiichiro Oda's prototype manga for what would eventually become One Piece. Instead, the title reflects the fact that the game covers the "Romance Dawn" arc of the manga, at the "dawn" of pirate Luffy's adventures in the East Blue.

Namco Bandai Games will release the game in Japan on December 20. People who pre-order the game will receive nine custom PSP themes of the Straw Hat Pirates' wanted posters, a map for the special quest with Kuzan (Aokiji) as seen in One Piece Film Z, and a serial code for obtaining a limited figure in the Mobage One Piece Grand Collection game.
