An "Evangelion"-themed train and roller coaster are unveiled on Nov. 17 to celebrate the release of "Evangelion: 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo" animated film, which opens in theaters the same day.
Railway operator Fuji Kyuko Co.'s two-car train decorated with the color schemes of the Evangelion Unit 01 and 02 robots will run on the Fujikyuko line between the Otsuki and Kawaguchi-ko stations in Yamanashi Prefecture, and is part of the "EVA: Q x FUJI:Q Keikaku" collaboration.
Memorable scenes and lines from the anime are featured in posters, straps and other parts of the train's interior.
Voice actress Kotono Mitsuishi, who plays the role of Misato Katsuragi, lends her voice for the in-train announcements for a part of the route.
At the Fuji-Q Highland amusement park, "Evangelion" is featured on cars, announcements, background music and the barn for the "Takabisha" roller coaster. With an inclination of 121 degrees, the 1-kilometer-long ride is recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's steepest roller coaster.
Riders of the "Evabisha" ride will see a large panel of "Evangelion" character Asuka Shikinami Langley set up at the entrance of a tunnel. When they are about to experience the stomach-flipping, beyond-vertical drop, an announcement in the voice of Shinji Ikari will be made.
An exclusive video is shown for riders waiting in line.
The "Evangelion" train and roller coaster will operate until Jan. 31.
The amusement park is also hosting a stamp rally in which participants receive a badge in addition to a bonus plastic file folder if they collect six stamp prints.
Fuji-Q Highland is also home to life-size models of "Evangelion" characters on display at the Evangelion: World pavilion.
