Pretoria - World Environment Day, commemorated annually on June 5, aims to be the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action.
Meanwhile, the actions of organized crime groups are resulting in a sharp rise in the poaching of already endangered wildlife, such as rhinos in Southern Africa, as discussed in the inaugural edition of the NEW UNODC Bulletin on Organised Crime in Southern Africa.
The Bulletin will be used to regularly highlight specific aspects of organised crime in the Southern African region. This bulletin is being compiled by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Southern Africa. Using a variety of open sources, it is complemented by a brief assessment of trends and issues relating to transnational organised crime in the Southern African region.
