What a combination! I know you are wondering about the connection of Kick Assitude and good ol' Southern Pecan Pie. In actuality, a party is about to happen and it is in celebration of the release of two new books.

Having a Ball (by Rhoda Baxter) and Kick Assitude (by Trish Jackson) are both to be released on the 15th of March. The two authors got their heads together and decided to have a Trans Atlantic Pot Luck Party to Celebrate. The party is on Facebook. Click HERE...

My guest author this week is Trish Jackson. Trish has the singular honour of being the first author I’ve interviewed who knows how to shoot a UZI submachine gun, let alone sleep with it under her bed. There must be a book in there somewhere. But, for today, welcome Trish! Tell us a bit about what you’re working on these days.

First, a big thank you to you, Mary for having me on your blog and for asking such thought-provoking questions.   I'm currently writing a new romantic suspense novel, Impassioned. This is a very intense story revolving around my protagonist's relationship with a serial killer. I'm also working on edit-1 from my publisher of my upcoming romantic suspense/comedy novel Kickassitude. This is a sequel toRedneck P.I. and every time I read it again, it makes me smile.

Here is a true to life example of just one of the things you miss when you loose your husband. (Picture of Mr. Reddix before we were married) You can't say everything that is troubling you all at once!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=E5T6raya_SM

(Video Snippett of the Inspirational Gospel singers)

These are the Inspirational Gospel Singers and tonight they celebrated their 13th Anniversary! Yours truly was the soprano singer in this group!!! My late husband Richard Reddix Sr. would be with me on all of our singing engagements and kept my schedule much better than I!
He would cook, and have dinner ready! He would have my clothes laid out for me. And he never once complained!!! Loved being with me everywhere I went! He got sick and I had to leave the group. Tonight - 3 years later is the first time that I was mentally and physically ready to go and hear them sing!! Kudos to the Inspirational Gospel Singers on their Anniversary. Sorry for the little small snippet, but if you record a long video, it won't load onto Facebook. The rest of my once in a lifetime love story is in my book; and it isn't just a mushy love story - power packed with how to get through the grief process; societal taboos on widowhood, and so much more!

Who needs a shrink when you can turn to Despair.com?

Sharla Shults's curator insight, January 31, 2013 9:47 AM

The title produces a good hook. However, the article is sizzlin' but not so sure it is in the right perspective. I sense quite a bit of sarcasm when in fact, there is a lot of despair within our nation, in fact the world, today. Should the last resort be Despair.com? What compassion can one find within a dot com? Should you read this article, be sure to also read the comments. Sometimes that section is more eye-opening than the article itself. Read and be your own judge...

Rosemary J. Adkins's curator insight, January 31, 2013 2:15 PM

Advise is always nice but perhaps you should try listening to your own inside voice on what's right. I see no way to prepare for the unknown except for retirement but life's changes for health and love are very unpredictable. While health insurnace prepares for those issues, what about love? Is there any insurance? It's just called LIFE.

Reading for Personal Development

Reading for Personal Development | And the Whippoorqwill Sang | Scoop.it

This is the first book of a subseries included in Bibliotreatment. Reading is therapeutic, and many of the issues that may be worrying you have been broached by great writers whose insight sometimes makes you wonder whether you/ someone you know have been spied on to provide literary material. Despite a widespread belief to the contrary, reading is not a passive but an extremely demanding interactive process. It "involves mental activity, is embedded in other communication abilities, and converts graphic stimuli into meaning."

Kahlil Gibran Quotes : No one believes the sincere except the honest. | And the Whippoorqwill Sang | Scoop.it
A very good collection of Kahlil Gibran Quotes.

Kahlil Gibran was a Lebanese artist, poet, and writer. Born in the town of Bsharri in the north of modern-day Lebanon, as a young man he immigrated with his family to the United States, where he studied and began his literary career, writing in both English and Arabic.
Born: January 6, 1883, Bsharri
Died: April 10, 1931, New York City
Full name: Jubran Khalil Jubran

Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.

To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to.

In the depth of my soul there is a wordless song.

Life without love is like a tree without blossom and fruit.

To be able to look back upon ones life in satisfaction, is to live twice.

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.

Truth is a deep kindness that teaches us to be content in our everyday life & share with the people the same happiness.
