Incredible underground chamber with 130 ancient Greek statues awaiting investigation

Incredible underground chamber with 130 ancient Greek statues awaiting investigation | mesopotamia | Scoop.it
An underground chamber containing 130 ancient Greek statues was discovered in Athens 25 years ago.
Sydne Morris's insight:

I find it incredibly interesting that a underground chamber has been discovered but it took the Greece government almost 30 years to even respond to a request for investigation. I mean it is not everyday one finds 130 undamaged statues. Especially statues from Ancient Greece. That is probably an amazing find. I really hope they investigate despite the red tape they would have to go through.

Sydne Morris's insight:

Two years ago archaeologists found a 4000 year old burial chamber in moorland England  which they believed belong to an ancient princess. This is because of the amount of wealth found in the tombs was something they haven't found in other burial tombs. There were over 150 beads and a few bracelets. Those kind of items are usually rotten so this is a special find.

Once again it seems that modern isn't as modern as we like to think. Cities may have buildings such as banks or technology shops such as apple stores but cities today are very much like the ones thousands of years ago. Apparently scientist are finding evidence suggesting that the way cities developed in the ancient world, weren't too different from now.

Sydne Morris's insight:

Now this really surprised me. I didn't know that egyptians had schools similar to the modern world at all. Then again I have never studied Egyptian history in depth much at all. The advice from a teacher was written on the wall of a school is interesting as well. Even then men were told to be courageous and bold because it made them "manly". Some things truly are universal.

This article is very interesting because it shows that some things are universal like kissing. I hope its not an ancient valentine or love letter but human nature is after all human nature. The transition between Roman to Anglo saxon may change with this new evidence but that's good. It's a bad idea to think that you know absolutely how events went down in history.
