Famoso matemático, filósofo y místico , las ideas de Pitágoras ejercieron una enorme influencia en el mundo antiguo , algunos viven en el día de hoy . La antigua Grecia fue también un inventor consumado . Un invento es la copa de Pitágoras o codicioso - un recipiente inteligente y divertido diseñado para contener una cantidad óptima de vino , lo que obligó a la gente a beber con moderación - una virtud de la gran consideración . Si el usuario era demasiado codicioso y vierte el vino por encima del límite , la copa sería derramar todo su contenido . Imagínese la consternación y estupor glotón sintió cuando su brebaje precioso pereció en el suelo.
De hecho , Pitágoras fue el hombre interesado en hacer las lecciones y su artilugio pudo haber enseñado un par de tipos sobre la virtud de la moderación. La " taza codiciosos ' también da una lección de ingenio , sin embargo. Este fenómeno llamado el sifón se crea debido a una reducción en la presión en el extremo superior del sifón . Como la gravedad tira de la columna de agua por el tubo de la copa de Pitágoras , la menor presión así creada en el otro extremo hace que el líquido que hay que ser dominado , lo que permite posteriormente a sí misma como " arrastrar " a lo largo , deteniéndose sólo cuando el nivel del agua desciende por debajo de cualquiera de los dos la admisión o la salida. Algunos baños modernos funcionan según el mismo principio : cuando el nivel de agua en el recipiente sube lo suficiente , se crea un sifón , tirar de la cadena .

Hoy en día, tazas pitagóricas se pueden comprar en toda Grecia en tiendas de recuerdos e incluso se pueden pedir en eBay.
