Yeva P's curator insight, February 27, 2014 2:36 AM

This article talks about the three major religions of ancient India.  The first religion that is talked about is Hinduism. Hinduism is polytheistic and henotheistic and there is no one main teacher of the religion. Brahmanism is considered an early form of Hinduism and was based on Vedic writing. Buddhism is practiced by the followers of Gautama Buddha, and karma and reincarnation are important elements of the religion. Jainism is a non-theistic religion and is founded my Mahavira.

Questions for further focus in the Classroom

1. Explain in brief the different relgious beliefs of each of the four civilisations and explain how each of them are similar to each other and how each of them differ from one another?

2. Even though both Egyptians and Hebrews share the axiom of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", why do you think that Hebrews follow it more religiously then the Egyptians?
