Amanda Duvall's curator insight, November 27, 2013 12:00 AM

A mission in the Nile Delta town of Tel-Basra was a life-sized statue of the 19th Dynasty King Ramses 2. The life-sized statue was accidently found during a routine excavation. It was discovered in The Great Temple areas. The temple is of the cat goddess, Bastetin Sharqiya's Tel-Basta. The newly-discovered statue is King Ramses 2 standing between the goddess of Hathor and the god Petah. On the statue's back are hieroglyphics text and cartilage of the King 's engrave. This important discovery sheds light on the history of Tel-Basta. Handel-Maqsoud suggest that  Tel-Basta was once home to a new kingdom temple dedicated to King Ramses 2.

This article is actually an image of a brief description about the pyramids and how they were built. I am sure that i am not the only person with the impression that slaves or some type of prisoners were used to build the pyramids I actually learned that pyramids were used to ascend the dead to heaven when mummified in the tombs within the pyramids!.

Religion in Ancient Egypt ~ Ancient Egypt Facts

Religion in Ancient Egypt ~ Ancient Egypt Facts | Ancient Egypt and Nubia | Scoop.it

Today scholars are agreed that the many divinities found in Egyptian temples are to be considered as attributes or intermediaries of the Supreme Being, the One God, the only one recognized and worshipped by the priests, those initiates or wise men of the sanctuaries.

At the pinnacle of the Egyptian pantheon there stands a God who is unique, immortal, who was not created, who is invisible and hidden in the inaccessible depths of his own Being.

Shonda Brock's insight:

Fascinating.
