Romans treated the barbarians badly and did not like them. In fact they are called barbarians because that is what the Romans named them. Becoming a gladiator was not a choice. The Romans would capture these people and then sale them, once bought the owner decided what they wanted them for and some would send them in trauning and to fight. You lose, you die!
