Lachlan McDonald's curator insight, April 6, 10:36 PM

Hi Class,

A fundamental tool of being a savvy historian is knowing the geographical locations (The Fertile Crescent, The Nile Valley) of ancient peoples (Mesopotamians, The Egyptians).
Why is it important?
Each time you familiarise yourself with a location and its peoples you start to build an internal map of the ancient world.

This site provides you with a number of important locations and there peoples of the Ancient World.
Click on a link for a interactive tour of each location. The tours are brief, however, the content is ideal for building a strong knowledge base.

If you wish to take notes or simply take your time you can control the progress of your journey by using the gold chapter arrow at the top right.
Remember the tours are purposely brief and the exercise focuses on familiarising yourself with the ancient world so view as many locations and peoples as you can!

It's sad to know how gladiators are not given second chance.

elizama ramirez's curator insight, February 25, 5:49 PM

Romans treated the barbarians badly and did not like them. In fact they are called barbarians because that is what the Romans named them. Becoming a gladiator was not a choice. The Romans would capture these people and then sale them, once bought the owner decided what they wanted them for and some would send them in trauning and to fight. You lose, you die!

elizama ramirez's curator insight, February 25, 5:41 PM

The Harappa civilization was discovered and it was very exicting. All the things they had were made and built by the people. Such as homes and other buildings. Much of what we do now is based on the past. We get to now the living conditions in history when discoveries are made. It is like putting a puzzle together.
