35 Ancient Pyramids Discovered in Sudan Necropolis

35 Ancient Pyramids Discovered in Sudan Necropolis | Ancient cities | Scoop.it
Mysteriously, the pyramids were built with circles at their centers.

Via promienie, Andrew Nayyar
Rowena ButedHIST1014's insight:

They've come to uncover pyramids in ancient city kingdom Kush flourished in Sudan. It talked more about the reasons for the building of pyramids, as they were a sacred place for the dead to ascend to heaven after death. They were part of the funeral process. I'll keep this as an article to use for my group video!

Andrew Nayyar's curator insight, February 20, 9:26 PM

This article is awesome it goes into some new finds in Sudan with fields of tons of pyramids clustered together. In about the size of NBA basketball court there would be 13 pyramids clustered together. These pyramids also had a circle built into them because this was part of their towns building history; but the Egyptian influence is apparent as well.

Patrick Kwong's curator insight, March 8, 2:38 PM

This discussion on the 2 sides is pretty vague, as no specific time period or ruler was mentioned, which is important in the tides of battle. But it seems that China wins by majority because of their advances in weapons. Rome has a high chance though, with their industrial prowess and ability to adapt in war.

What stuck me about this article wasn't really the findings of the proovincal pyramid, it was what  the end of the article said, It said that they had to hurry and finish researching the pyramids before damage to the area was made due to gaspipes that were being put in. It's almost like a slap in the face!! Here are ancient ruins of an ancient world that we didnt know had existed, and the worry is on the modern day building that is causing such a rush, It's sad to see such little importance ancient cities has on the modern day world. it's interesting to think that in ancient times only the rich could have access to toilets.

Chase Lee's curator insight, March 8, 2:41 AM

Good for them. If that is what they were used for, then good for them. I am a fan of plumbing. When i look at it that's not really what i see. it looks more artistic than practical.

Patrick Kwong's curator insight, March 9, 4:59 AM

The plumbing system in Rome is an extraordinary feature among the many architecture such as aqueducts and roads. The Romans had a “perfected” version of the ancient pipeline, as public toilets and private homes were connected to a main drainage system, which is comparable to our extremely vast pipeline throughout America. It’s impressive that these Romans were so ahead of their time, but unfortunate that only the higher class could be allowed to live …more hygienically, as the poor  would use urine to launder clothes.

'Google Earth pyramids' revisited

'Google Earth pyramids' revisited | Ancient cities | Scoop.it

Remember that researcher who thought she spotted previously undiscovered Egyptian pyramids in Google Earth imagery? It turns out that there really are some ruins in the picture, but they’re not pyramids.

Well that settles this earth mystery.

What is needed is the ability to see what is already known. This can come from a lack of knowledge about how to find the information but also from a lack of collation or publishing of the information in the first place. Both as bad.

Via David Connolly, Andrew Nayyar
Rowena ButedHIST1014's insight:

Another form of searching for the uncovered Egyptian pyramids would be through Google earth images. The images are taken of Dimai, which was known as Soknopaiou Nesos during the Greco-Roman period in Egypt. This is interesting to see such high technology to research upon great history.

Andrew Nayyar's curator insight, February 20, 9:22 PM

This article brings some fresh questions in regards to pyramids which is truely something special. The article presents google images that sugges old pyramids that were left without ruins in the present day Egyptian town called Daimyo. Investogators have confirmed that these are not pyramids but rather triangular mounds of dirt with a structure underneath. The usuage of these mounds is still unclear. It is possible that these formations are a result of natural erosion as this is common in the region.

It is amazing to know that are numerous Mayans still living in their home regions. When I went to Yucatan to visit the pyramids, there were so many mayans selling their cultural products and living in some areas. It was like a jungle. It was sad but it was interesting to see how they survive in life.

Elizabeth Otis's curator insight, February 27, 6:36 PM

These are some very interesting facts in this article. The one I found really weird is that they tried to cross children's eyes. Why would they do that?
