sql server - Why can't I shrink a transaction log file, even after backup? - Stack Overflow

Kevin Jobe's insight:

kj- see Brent's comment from June 02, 2010:

I've had the same issue in the past. Normally a shrink and a trn backup need to occur multiple times. In extreme cases I set the DB to "Simple" recovery and then run a shrink operation on the log file. That always works for me. However recently I had a situation where that would not work. The issue was caused by a long running query that did not complete, so any attempts to shrink were useless until I could kill that process then run my shrink operations. We are talking a log file that grew to 60 GB and is now shrunk to 500 MB.

Remember, as soon as you change from FULL to Simple recovery mode and do the shrink, dont forget to set it back to FULL. Then immediately afterward you must do a FULL DB backup.

SSAS- Define a Default Dimension Member

Kevin Jobe's insight:

..If no default member is specified for an attribute hierarchy, and the attribute hierarchy is aggregatable (the IsAggregatable property on the attribute is set to True), the (All) member is the default member. If no default member is specified and the attribute hierarchy is not aggregatable (the IsAggregatable property on the attribute is set to False), a default member is selected from the attribute hierarchy's top level.

How to use the "Open with Explorer" command and how to troubleshoot issues with this option in SharePoint Online | analytics and sql | Scoop.it
Discusses how to use the "Open with Explorer" command and how to troubleshoot issues with this option in SharePoint Online.
Kevin Jobe's insight:

When you use the Open with Explorer command, it opens Windows Explorer on your computer. However, Windows Explorer then displays the folder structure on the server computer that hosts the site. You can then work with the files in the folder. For example, you can perform actions by using Windows Explorer that include the following:

Drag documents into libraries.Create folders.Move or copy documents in one library to another library within the same site collection or between site collections.Delete multiple documents at one time.
