Connecting with Nepal began months before I actually landed.

As I look down at Katmandu from my window seat, the eyes of the Stupa lock into mine, reminding me to keep the promise of return. There are voices to find, voices to listen to, voices to unleash.

And so begins the re-tracing of my involvement with Nepal. An educational journey, an adventure into the realities of developing countries, an experience of castes, ethnic groups, plains and hills.

My finger traces the map.

My mind traces the territories which I encountered along the way.

Voices echo through the mist.

Voices define the territories.

Nameste! – Welcome to traces of Nepal. Welcome to a digital territory of change, social complexity and Himalayan seduction.

Congratulations on making the list, Ana! I'm disappointed to see the vendor presence in there (e.g. Articulate). Yes, they have a big reach but I feel that their platform bias tends to skew their "expertise". I do applaud the other more independent experts who are committed to growing and developing the community as a whole.

  • Best individual blog: Cristina Sky Box. Ana Cristina Pratas has a nice visual way of presenting her resources and explaining her ideas. She lets you see she is really into education; she obviously loves blogging and sharing things with us.
  • Best group blog: Edudemic. Learning, parents, technology, social media, advice... you name it, lots of different issues usually dealt with in a very clear way.
  • Best teacher blog: Movie Segments to Asses Grammar Goals. Claudio Azevedo is certainly original in his way of presenting grammar issues; the films he chooses get a new dimension when we see the activities he suggests and when we eventually use them in our classes.
  • Free web tool: Dropbox. So convenient!
  • Best educational use of audio / video / visual / podcast: Wonderopolis : activities to make kids wonder and reflect on all sorts of topics related to everyday life.
  • Best mobile app: Shazam: an app that can quickly (impressively quickly) identify any song you are listening to.
