Groundology | AMAZING WORLD IN PICTURES | Scoop.it

One only has to walk barefoot in the grass or on a beach for a while to feel the benefits of regaining a connection with the Earth, and yet in our modern lives it is not always practical to do so. There is a very physical and scientifically verifiable reason why we feel better when we have an electrical connection to the Earth, and in fact there is growing evidence that this connection is vital for our health and well being.

Local leverage: getting search right for #SoLoMo is a potent force

Local leverage: getting search right for #SoLoMo is a potent force | AMAZING WORLD IN PICTURES | Scoop.it

The ability to blend local information with social or sharing features and mobility is a potent combination and has become a major focus for companies like Yelp. EyeforTravel’s Ritesh Gupta spoke to Dave Scheine, the company’s director of European operations to find out how local search is shaping up on mobile devices.

The Internet and to a large extent mobile have become the primary way that consumers discover new local businesses. When you’re able to tie user-generated information (such as reviews, photos and so on), along with traditional directory listings, suddenly search becomes a whole lot more useful...

Interview with Ileane about best traffic strategy:
1- You are a person who does not need any introduction, but as a part of formality could you tell us a little about yourself and why you are awesome?
I’m Ileane and my blog is Basic Blog Tips. I’ve been blogging for 3 years and I’m also very active on Twitter, Facebook and Google+. I have a podcast on iTunes and over 100 video tutorials on my YouTube channel.

2- What was the main strategy behind the growth of your blog?
My blog appeals to bloggers at all stages of their blogging careers. I have a big audience of new bloggers coming in from organic searches from all the major search engines but I also have a loyal fan base that I am very connected to. I’m also very blessed to have featured over 100 guest authors who have made major contributions to the growth of the blog and the valuable content that’s offered there.

3- What other strategies that you recommend?
I know that having my content available in various formats like videos, presentations on SlideShare, podcasts and social networks has made a big difference in the connections I’ve made online. You need to build connections with people and do more sharing and giving than your own self promotion.

How Social Search and Social Shopping Are Transforming Retail [Infographic]

How Social Search and Social Shopping Are Transforming Retail [Infographic] | AMAZING WORLD IN PICTURES | Scoop.it

This Infographic by Symphony Teleca shows that consumers rely on peer recommendations: Links to user-generated content on social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Pinterest) make up a quarter of the search results for the top 20 brands in the world.

In response to that growing number, 85 % of people have already anticipated changes in their buying behavior.

Customer reviews, questions and answers, internet forums and user-generated videos are the social and community tools that influence consumers the most.

This Infographic also shows how mobile devices, real-time access to review sites and social networks impact consumers’ buying decisions and overall retail experience.

167 million people will shop online this year, spending an average of $1,800 per person, it reveals.

Unsurprisingly, shoppers are using their smartphones to look for sales and special deals, as well as read product reviews and ratings.

64% of smartphone owners shop online using their devices;

40% of Twitter users say they search for products on the microblogging tool; and

60% of Facebook users say they would discuss a product or service if they were offered a discount

It also breaks down how companies such as Walmart and Starbucks are using social networks to engage shoppers. It also looks at how businesses are using mobile point of sale (POS) transactions to get insight into consumer data, sales records and inventory.

Web Design History & Transformation Through The Years [Infographic]

Web Design History & Transformation Through The Years [Infographic] | AMAZING WORLD IN PICTURES | Scoop.it

In a new infographic from All Web Design Info, we get to take a look at web design history and how the Internet has evolved since it was first introduced to us.

The World Wide Web got introduced to the general public as late as in the 1990s. It feels like it’s been a lot longer since I started using this highly creative way of sharing, innovating and connecting. However, the Internet’s web design history is really fresh compared to many other things we are still using today.

HTML has become the backbone of the Internet itself, and it is apparently in its fourth generation right now. Many new and more effective languages have been added since HTML became popular, but it still serves as one of the main keys to creating a visually stunning and user friendly website. The second generation of the HTML language was introduced in order to stop confusion about the tags available. People had started to add their own tags, so between 1992 and 1994 the second generation of HTML was put together to unify the language and make it more simple.

Today, HTML 5 is becoming more and more popular, and it looks like many of the features that previously we were only able to include through Java, Javascript and so forth have been injected into the HTML 5 batch enabling more creativity without having to involve other languages. This ultimately makes the work easier for any web developer and designer. Only the collective developers and designers know what web design history will be written in the future since they are the ones who together invent features and approaches that in the future will require simpler implementations.

Why B2B Marketers Should Use Infographics + An Infographic

Why B2B Marketers Should Use Infographics + An Infographic | AMAZING WORLD IN PICTURES | Scoop.it

B2B marketing is becoming more competitive. Creating infographics is a great way to attract prospects to your website and build your inbound marketing program.

One of the great things about B2B marketing is there is endless potential for generating interesting content for your audience. Marketers have to constantly be aware of what the next big thing is and if that big thing is worth our time and money.

I think we can all agree that tools to help create cool and creative content is worth looking at, especially if that content format has proven successful time and time again.

Ok, Rookie, what’s your point? Infographics is that new, interesting style to create and display your content. Information graphic or infographics are graphic, visual representations of information, data or knowledge. These particular graphics are popular because they present complex information quickly and clearly. And given that 65% of the population are visual learners (including myself), infographics can easily be successful.

Here’s 6 reasons B2B marketers should use infographics:

1. People connect with visuals.

Visual consumption makes learning easier. In fact, the brain processes visual information 60,000x faster than text. Visuals allow quick interpretation. This would be great way for a client to convey a complex topic.

2. Easily shared.

Downloading and uploading is easier with a graphic than a blog post or white paper. Infographics are also highly favored in social media because of the ease of sharing between users and networks, causing it to go viral faster.

3. Attracts more attention.

Let’s face it, pictures are more appealing than something written. It’s content eye candy! The nature of an infographic is to instantly grab your attention with bold colors and creative imagery. These elements arouse the senses and encourage further reading of the text.

4. Great for link building.

Infographics are great ways to build links. Someone could publish your content and you could ask for a link back to your site with a particular keyword. Google will index your website higher and it will gain importance to search engines.

5. Shows an expert knowledge of a subject.

By creating content dedicated to a particular topic, you show the world you high level of understanding of that topic. You could be viewed as an expert in that topic.

6. Builds awareness and traffic.

Every marketer knows that content creation is important to build hype around your company. The better the content, the more likely it will be shared to others. Infographics are trendy and if done right, it can get people coming back for more!

Natalie Hodgkiss's curator insight, May 13, 2014 3:07 PM

The strength of this infographic is its simple, easy to look at design with clean lines. The weakness of this visualized article, however, is that it presents the information in a circular format which I personally don't like and there's not much eye catching color.

Anthony's curator insight, December 16, 2014 3:35 PM

This is absolutely necessary to take into consideration. We cannot get away from the fact that in this day and age 'visual stimulation' influences the masses almost immediately. Brands are embedded into our consciousness with careful design strategies (colours, angles, lighting, font size etc) just look at the Virgin logo for an example of visual brilliance. Simply yet unforgettable.

See if you can implement some of the strategies given here in this article.

Enjoy!
