My son, Tyler Page, was just a regular nine-year-old kid who loved Star Wars, baseball, and cafeteria chili—so much so that he once paid his friend Joey $20 for an extra bowl. That all changed after he saw a TV special about child trafficking in Ghana, West Africa, and decided that his mission in life would be to save other kids just like him, kids who were being forced to fish for 14 hours a day in exchange for one small meal. Heartbroken by what he had seen on TV and backed with the determination to raise $240—the amount of money that would keep one child out of slavery for a year—he drew a picture of a car wash, wrote a letter and took it to school the next day to invite his friends and classmates to help him. Three short weeks later, he and a handful of his buddies raked in $1,175.00 worth of donations.
