Baroness Neville-Jones has accused China and Russia of carrying out cyber warfare attacks aimed at stealing national security secrets from other countries. Earlier Iain Lobban, the head of Britain's electronic "listening" agency GCHQ, disclosed that the Foreign Office and other Government departments had faced a "significant" cyber attack on their computer systems over the summer.

The United States weighed launching a cyber-attack to disrupt Libyan air defenses before the start of an air campaign against Moamer Kadhafi's forces, officials. The assault would have hacked into the Kadhafi regime's computer networks to cut links between early-warning radar and surface-to-air missiles threatening NATO aircraft, two defense officials said, confirming an account first published by The New York Times.

Earlier this year it was reported by various media outlets that the US Cyber Command’s newly issued strategy paper acknowledged that a cyber attack on the US could constitute an “act of war.”
