After reading this article, I am embarrassed to say that I have been a model parent and have not taught my children the proper way of dealing with conflict. In a better world, our family would have a family meeting once a week and everyone has a say so. Each person mentions what happened in that week and how they feel it could have been handled differently. There is no template in becoming a better parent, but we do need to stick to those ideas that makes a better person. Children grow up too fast and the scars that were never healed can come back to haunt them. We definitely have to strive for better communication skills starting in school and continuing throughout school

I am guilty in dealing with conflict in front of my children in ways that a regret later. You want your children to be respectful citizens, yet our actions show otherwise. Many parents believe punishment is the key for dealing with misbehaving children, yet the key for survival is communication. Now a days everyone's life's, are rushed from morning until night. The core of our body, the heart, is not attended to. Therefore, the connection between our hearts need to be the focus among family members in order to feel the connectivity we once had and should continue to have. It is definitely an ongoing job to be able to facilitate to resolve conflicts.

It is unfortunate discrimination still continues in the U.S. even though there are laws employers know they need to abide by. I am curious how many applicants have been discriminated by employers due to their race and no one has been aware of the ill practices. This article reminds me of the time I worked at a fast food restaurant in upstate New York over 20 years ago. Even though I had several years of experience as a cashier, the manager never allowed me to work in the front registers nor in the drive thru. I was one of the cooks for the morning and sometimes noon shift. I came to notice that no minorities were working the registers, at least in my shift. I, along with another hispanic female, worked the grill while only white employees worked the front. I am not saying there were no Caucasians working in the back, but it did bother me that though I mentioned to them I had experience dealing with money, they never attempted to train me for the front registers. I even witnessed teenagers being trained to work the front and yes they were all white employees. It never dawned on me to complain. Sometimes you don’t want to cause problems and you just look elsewhere for a better job. Yes, I did get hired with another employer and eventually moved up to what was called the cashier cage. I was not only responsible for cashing checks, selling money orders, and wiring money for customers, I was also responsible in counting the tills of all the checkers in the front registers. It amazes me that race discrimination among some employers still continues during this time period. I’m saddened to think these employers have such a narrow minded mentality and feel minorities cannot do the job just because of their race.

I am appalled by this article, although I can say it happens all the time. Yet, the article doesn't mention what kind of woman. I am sure it is not an elderly women, or a heavyset woman, nor a mentally challenged woman. These type of women have to have certain characteristics in order for negotiation to follow. It's unfortunate personal appearance still plus when getting from plan a to plan b. This definitely sexual disrcimination.
