Patients with terminal illnesses are refusing to wait for physicians, drug companies and the FDA to find cures for their diseases.
Jason Harris's Biography...................
I am a video editor working in Westchester, NY for a publishing company. I have always wanted to make documentary films but have always been held back by my own fears.
In January of 2011, my brother Ben Harris was diagnosed with ALS better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. After hearing this news from my sister, I immediately educated myself about the disease. That night, I watched youtube videos about ALS until the sun came up. After that night, I realized what my brother's fate would be. I still have not recovered form the news and I never will. I felt a sense of hopelessness - that there was absolutely nothing I could do.
So two months after this news, our family had a family reunion in Arizona. I remember walking up to my brother that first morning expecting to see him declining. But, that was not the case that day. He told me that he had just entered a drug trail that was making improvements in his condition. Improvements in ALS just don't happen. I knew then I would have to tell his story.
