Living with ALS and using social media to communicate
Winchester, VA - Sandi Waugerman has been living with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
"She needs constant care, she can not do one thing for herself but blink her eyes," said June Weatheholtz Sandi's nurse.
Lou Gehrig's disease effects the total body making it impossible to talk, walk, and even swallow by yourself. Sandi doesn't let that stop her from having a voice. She uses social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Skype to communicate with her family.
She also remains positive and uses her experience to help others with ALS giving them information and contacts all through social media. Sandi's family said that they try to focus on the positive especially since Sandi stays so positive about life.
