Poi resta quanto vuole, consumando quanti caffé …
Interactive visuals are great learning and teaching materials to use with your students in the classroom. From explaining difficult processes to visual brainstorming, interactive graphics are a good way to consolidate students learning and promote their comprehension. Below are three of the web tools I would recommend for creating interactive visuals, I know there are several other titles to add to this list but the ones below are, in my view, more student-friendly and simpler to use.
Over the weekend, a story that originated on the smut-ridden UK-based Daily Mail went viral among major media outlets across the world. Time, CBS, and the Huffington Post were among the dozens of online news media who published stories about...
In 2002, cameraphones given to everybody the possibility to become photographers, videomakers, authors of contents. So, with Michele Neri and with technician support of Cristian Pozzer, I create a project for the camera phone users.
We discovered rapidly a new continent of amateur photographic contents, straight, spontaneous and that refer to a familiar though unexplored world: daily life, common feelings, habits and gestures, suprises and instincts of everyday people and actions. It is a new language that is appearing. In the following years, we developed technologies, legal and practical experiences to explore and give value to this new secret world of images, with the trust and intuition that these images (and videos) are the best and most contemporary tool to describe our world.
The Project Makadam has meanwhile succeded in these ventures:
-creating a community of thousands of new photographers -being the place for the culture, the technique, the artistic and legal issues and questions of this new community of photographers
Our society is increasingly relying on the digitized, aggregated opinions of others to make decisions. We therefore designed and analyzed a large-scale randomized experiment on a social news aggregation Web site to investigate whether knowledge of such aggregates distorts decision-making. Prior ratings created significant bias in individual rating behavior, and positive and negative social influences created asymmetric herding effects. Whereas negative social influence inspired users to correct manipulated ratings, positive social influence increased the likelihood of positive ratings by 32% and created accumulating positive herding that increased final ratings by 25% on average. This positive herding was topic-dependent and affected by whether individuals were viewing the opinions of friends or enemies. A mixture of changing opinion and greater turnout under both manipulations together with a natural tendency to up-vote on the site combined to create the herding effects. Such findings will help interpret collective judgment accurately and avoid social influence bias in collective intelligence in the future.
Even in this era of multibillion-dollar valuations for tech startups that have barely moved out of the founders' parents' basement, the $19 billion Facebook is paying for the mobile messaging service WhatsApp seems simply insane. But that's what Facebook likely will be spending to acquire the latest--well, not even actually the [...]
