New Common Core resources for educators | eSchool News | eSchool News | All Things Teacher | Scoop.it
New resources released this month link Common Core-aligned curriculum with any school system’s assessment data, and what's more, these resources for educators are also 100 percent free. The resources, housed on Activate Instruction, are part of an open platform where educators can browse, search, rate, add, share, and organize their favorite Common Core-aligned resources, and put them together in personalized playlists for students. Parents and students can follow sets of resources educators have prescribed, or can search for the resource they like best. What makes this free resource a step above other online resources currently available? The current content, which includes nearly all subjects for grades 6-12 (soon expanding to K-12), has been largely aggregated and published by two high-performing schools: Summit Public Schools (SPS) in San Francisco and High Tech High (HTH) in San Diego.

coretaskproject

The Core Task Project is a professional learning model that challenges assumptions and addresses the “instructional shifts.” Further, it answers the question, “What does it mean to do the Core?” Inquiry based and developed by teachers, the CTP uses Close Reading Exemplars, developed by Student Achievement Partners, as a means to refine classroom instruction so that is matched to the CCSS.

The CTP includes voices from the CCSSO, the NGA, and the standards authors through print material, video content, and podcasts. It draws educators’ attention the PARCC Content Framework and the SBAC Claims. In doing so, teachers and governance have a stronger sense of what needs to shift in order to prepare students for College and Career Readiness.

All the materials have been well vetted in Nevada’s 2nd largest school district—Washoe County.
