This would work well for kids with reading difficulties, because it would address the lack of skill growth by deliberately doing what is needed for each individual to learn to read. Right now, so many kids with dyslexia (smart kids!) spend the first few years in school memorizing words instead of learning to decode text. This catched up to them beginning in third grade, when texts become more complex and necessary. They struggle to do what worked earlier (memorize words), and start to feel really stupid.
