iPad Mini And Redesigned iPad With Lightening Connector Releasing Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the big day when Apple is going to announce a redesigned iPad mini and as the name suggests,, this iPad will be of a smaller size with 7.85 inch diagonally. The reason for introducing a 7 inch iPad is to compete with Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire. It is quite obvious that the new iPad mini will feature a lightening connector like that of iPhone 5.

The concept of a 7 inch iPad was earlier coined while Steve Jobs was still alive but he wouldn't accept it considering it as a waste because of the smaller screen size and instead proposed 10 inch screen as a minimum requirement. The ideology behind the 7 inch iPad came from Apple's senior vice president, Eddy Cue who strongly believes that there is a market in 7 inch screen devices and hence Apple should have a smaller iPad too.

It is a known fact that Apple gives a lot of thinking before releasing a product and the reason behind having a 7.85 inch iPad instead of 7 inch is because this will help the developers an easy way to upgrade their apps. With a 7.85 inch screen, the iPad mini can still run all the applications that run on iPad and iPhone. The only work that developers will have to upgrade their apps would be to adjust the corners to match the iPad mini screen.

Internally, the iPad mini is believed to be built using the same components as last year's iPad 2. That means the same CPU (A5), same RAM (512 MB) and same GPU. It also means the screen is not expected to be a "Retina" display. Instead, it will be same 1024x768 resolution as the iPad 2 -- though at a higher pixel density due to the smaller screen. - Macrumors

Using Social Media as SEO

Using Social Media as SEO | All My Favs | Scoop.it

"Social media has become an important factor in Google’s algorithm calculation to work out the ranks of businesses in search engines. Webpages are likely to rank higher if they’ve been shared, ‘liked’, ‘followed’ and generally talked about on social networking forums.

With the fast move towards the community branding in social media, people are looking to be recommended services by their peers, and social media is the crux and source of this recommendation service.

Many traditional SEO campaigns didn’t account for social media as it wasn’t considered by Google before. SEO was focussed on content, keywords, meta tags, title tags and several back end features of websites to boost a brand via its own platform".

Responding to the Landscape: Archipelago House by Tham & Videgård Arkitekter

Responding to the Landscape: Archipelago House by Tham & Videgård Arkitekter | All My Favs | Scoop.it

The goal for this project was to provide a direct relationship with the dramatic archipelago landscape and to create a simple platform which would offer several diverse readings of the relationship between space and nature. Conceived as a light-weight construction in wood and glass and located in Stockholm’s outer archipelago, this summer house was built within the specific conditions prevailing on the island.

Without any car access, all materials had to be brought by boat from the mainland. Wood was chosen throughout the design in order to provide simplicity of construction and to minimize difficulties with heavy transportation.

The horizontal character of the black-stained exterior relates to the verticality of the island’s tall pines, and mirrored views of the Baltic Sea. The geometry of the plan is generated by the specifics of the site; the house sits on a flat surface between two rocky outcrops, and is oriented simultaneously towards the sun in south and towards sea views in the west. With smaller rooms placed behind, the three large social areas of the house open up to the terrace and provide an open platform, criss-crossed by sliding glass...
